Kayan sighed and laughed, "Don't even get me started on leopards." it was meant as a joke, but his last encounter with a leopard was anything but funny. "Trust me, I'm not the type who runs around looking for a fight. It's just with my bad luck that everyone I come across is in a really bad mood." he stopped and again smiled, "Well, besides you of course." them both standing right by the river made him have to hold himself back from doing anything childish like pushing her inside or anything else stupid.

[Arani]

"It's very hard to get me in a bad mood." Kara said with a chuckle. "If my dad was still alive he could tell you that first hand. He tried so very hard to get me angry about something. Succeeded a few times, but it was very difficult for him." She laughed. "I still remember his face. He's just stand there and stare down at me. That would freak me out until he'd burst into laughter." She smiled at him. "As you can probably tell, I was very close to my dad." She paused, then asked him something she instantly regretted. "Do you.... remember your parents at all?" She looked at him out of the corner of her eye.

Kayan raised an eyebrow, "Really? That doesn't make him sound very nice..." he didn't bother asking where was her father since it was pretty obvious that he was dead from the way Kara talked about him. As she asked about his parents Kayan's smile faded. He was silent for a few seconds but eventually answered her, "My mother died when I was really young. I don't remember my dad at all." there was a chance that his father was still alive out there, but Kayan really had no idea on how to feel about that.

[Arani]

"Oh it was all good fun." She said when Kayan thought that her father's actions weren't very nice. Her smile also faded as Kayan talked of his parents. "Oh... I didn't know... Sorry I asked. I probably stirred up old, unwanted memories, huh?" She looked down. "I kinda know how you feel though. My mum died when I was pretty young. And my dad passed a couple years ago. Never felt so alone before." She looked back up at him with a smile. "Of course, then Amani had her cubs so I was never alone." Her smile faded again. "But it's not the same... never will be."

Kayan sighed. He found himself reassuringly placing a paw on Kara's shoulder, "I know what it feels like. You really don't have to explain it to me." he knew that she really didn't like talking about it just as much as he didn't. He noticed where his paw was and immediately pulled it back, "Uh... Look, if there's one thing I learned on my own is that thinking about those memories obviously makes you feel worse about it." he gave her a somehow reassuring smile, "Besides, it might not be the same again, but it also doesn't have to be bad." he figured she'd figure out what he meant and so didn't bother to explain.

Kara was surprised when his paw rested on her shoulder. He quickly pulled it back, but not without leaving another strange spark. "Ya... ya, I guess you're right." She looked at him with a smile. "Thanks, Kayan. I really do feel better. I should say those words to myself more often." She chuckled. "Next time the sadness comes that will be the first thing I say to myself." She then, surprisingly, laughed. "I never thought I'd say this out loud, but I've never actually talked about my dad to anyone, and here I am talking about him to you. How odd fate can be sometimes."

Kayan again felt himself become overtaken by that nervousness. There was just some feeling that rose up inside him whenever he saw Kara smiling. "Uh... yeah..." he was now sure that he like Kara, alot. If only he had the guts it would take him to just went ahead and tell her. The reason he was holding himself from doing so was the fear of her turning out to not share even a tiny bit of the feelings he had for her so far. "Look, Kara... I..." he felt like he should just say it, but again when it came to letting the words out he found himself unable to speak.

[Arani]

Kara looked at him oddly when he tried to talk again. "You what?" She asked him, giving him another smile. "You know I don't bite or anything." She looked for any type of sign from him that might lead to what ever he was going to say. She didn't expect that she would see a number of different sayings, an impossible number that she could never guess from. "You can talk to me about anything you feel comfortable sharing, I hope you've realized that by now."

Meanwhile Amani had followed Kara and Kayan and was listening to their conversation. She was placed between two trees and in the tall Savannah grass. "What are they up to this time?" Amani watched their every move. The Falls could actually be a dangerous place if you didn't watch where you walked. Amani herself had a scary experience when she was a cub. She wasn't looking where she was going and fell into one of the deepest rivers in Africa. She nearly lost her life that day, if it wasn't for her mother's life that she gave up to save Amani. Amani tried to get the thought out of her head and kept concentrating on Kayan and Kara to make sure they didn't lose their footing and fall into the river.

Kayan again found himself getting lost in Kara's eyes when she gave him another one of her smiles. He really wanted to finally tell her that he really liked her, and he knew she was right about him supposing to fell comfortable telling her what was on his heart. The moment also seemed perfect, but he still had his apprehensions. What if she laughed at him and said no? "I..." he hesitated, before forcing the words out of his mouth, "Look Kara, you're the first actual cheetah I've ever had the luck to come across..." he nervously brought one of his paws to the back of his head, "I was just wondering if maybe later you'd like to go somewhere... Like..." he gulped, "Like a date?"
