Although she was still very young, Kiara was made to be queen of the pridelands since her father's unfortunate and sudden death. Kovu would reign by her side as prince consort, but Kiara was still afraid of this great responsibility. She found her mother underneath her favorite tree on Pride Rock.
"Mother, I don't think I can do this! I'm... I'm afraid I'll let father down."
Nala placed her paw on her daughter's back as Kiara buried her head on Nala's shoulder. "You'll do just fine. I will always be here to guide you, and so is your father."

I imagine Kiara would be rather nervous of becoming queen at first, but as she learns to get over her fear, she would become a great queen.
