Taka ran fast from Pride Rock. Away from the walls that once offered him so much protection, away from an abusive father, and away from a selfish brother. No one ever listenened to him, so fights with his father were common. After all, after Uru's death, Ahadi had never been quite right. But The Pride was shocked when Ahadi went as far as to strike his son.

As Taka ran his face burned, as did his mind and soul. Every last bit of Taka died away that day as he ran from everything and everyone his pain-stricken heart decided to hate. It wasn't long before his legs gave out and he collapsed out in the foggy fields near the edge of the pride lands. Climbing up onto a rock to protect himself from the unstable ground, Taka burst into tears.

Had his mother been here she would know what to say, she would never have let this happen... She would have understood. But she was gone, and there was nothing he could do about it.

As exhaustion took over him he cried himself to sleep. As if she had read his thoughts, Uru drifted into his dreams. A golden glow covered her orange fur as she approached her son.

"Taka, darling, what's the matter?" He voice questioned, echoing like eerie church bells over a misty grave yard.

But the voice that would have once brought him pleasure, delight, and love brought only despair and loathing. Taka jerked awake and sobbed. "YOU SAID YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME!"

This is soooo good! I really like the ending where Taka ends with, "YOU SAID YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME!"- like Simba's line!
