After nearly three months of nesting, Bellatrix makes the long journey back to find the pride and her mate, with three new cubs along with her. Scout, in her mother's jaws, Jem behind her legs and Nydia in front. The sunrise turns the sky pink as they trudge through a less familiar grassland, hoping to find the relocated pride, which had moved from their old home after a fire.
