It's not a failed attempt. My only critique about it is the fact that it's very small. Usually impalas are about the size of leopards or bigger.

Well, even a baby impala is bigger than that. Not trying to be rude, just saying. ^^'
However, good job on it anyway! Other than the size, the anatomy is pretty good. I'm not good at drawing ungulates.

What about a duiker? They live in the savannah and are about that size.

Ah, I just looked them up and they're so teeny. Anyway, I digress- she did say that they're impala, but I suppose it could easily be a dik dik or duiker.

It could. I'm not tryin to tell Cheeony how to do comics. But I'd say the prey being a duiker (or dik dik) would be more apropos.
Nevertheless, I really enjoy this comic. It's something different and quite creative. Keep at it Cheeony!
