I have a theory that Zira was actually Simba and Nala's babysitter. But something happened and Zira distances herself away from the Pride as she has been 'shunned'. This leads her into her downward spiral to insanity. But she still has a caring and loving heart before Simba's uncle corrupts her into his 'loyal soldier'.
Zira saw her King, the golden lion with a familiar red mane. And that uncanny resemblance.. Mufasa? No. It couldn't be. He was long dead. Wait.. Simba? Scar didn't murder that sniveling brat after all.. But perhaps that's about to change. Her King heading straight for Simba. But his attack is foiled, he kicks the old King off of Pride-rock and sends him plummeting to his doom. "SCAR!" She screamed out. In panic, she ran over to where he fell. She saw him. He got up. he's ALIVE... But she couldn't get through the rocks. She could only watch. She tried to yell. But she couldn't. Almost as if she was in a state of panic. Scar.. Scar..!

Thanks! I figured that, Zira probably had the ability to feel 'emotion' before she lost Scar. Which caused her to be filled with nothing but bitterness and hate.
