"Don't worry, dear", her mate tried to comfort her.
"It's just not our time yet. We need to be patient."
Mufasa was right... Nothing had ever made Sarabi happier than hearing the news from the old shaman Rafiki: she was pregnant!
Sarabi left the Pride Rock when she felt it was time to give birth. After a long and difficult labour, she could finally see her cubs. Two tiny cubs. As Sarabi tried to feed them, she realized there was something wrong. The cubs were too weak to move or even make noise.
"What's the matter? Are you too tired to eat? Mommy is tired too, very tired. Maybe we should sleep first... Good night, my darlings. Your father will come to see us tomorrow. He will be so happy..."
Sarabi held the cubs close to keep them warm and fell asleep.
In the morning, the cubs were cold and lifeless. Sarabi tried her best to wake them up, but there was nothing she could do. Her cubs were dead.
"No... No! My babies! My poor little ones... You can't do this to me. I waited for you so long..."
It took long before Sarabi and Mufasa could even think about having cubs again.

Poor Sarabi.
I've always thought that Sarabi and Mufasa seemed pretty old at Simba's presentation.
