Chaka is Issa's mate. (both are males)

Chaka is/was the prince of his old pride, but after the tragic loss of his mate, he hands his place as future king to his younger brother and leaves the pride with his son Imani.

Due to the fact his land was only a short distance from the pridelands, Chaka stops there with intent to let Imani rest and eat. He'd been to the pride lands many times before, once with his grandfather, Malka to pay his respects to King Simba on the one year anniversary of his death. (Malka died shortly after this) and other times with his father on Royal business.

Only this time, he wasn't expecting to see Kopa's son, Issa all grown up. In appearance Issa is very similar to Chaka's old mate, and he can't help but feel attached to the young lion and vice versa with Issa. What was meant to be a short stay, turns into weeks as the two lions get to know each other better. Then a little while later, Chaka asks Issa to be his mate.
