Ryan is a silver lion who at a very young age lost his sight after getting poison in his eyes from a spitting cobra. Not long after Ryan was found by some park rangers abandon by a trail, so seeing that the young cub would never survive in the wild, the took the unusual colored cub to a zoo. At the zoo Ryan meets Tennessee, an "oops" cub bred by a private bug cat owner. She was half black panther and half lion. The poor cub was rescued by the zoo and was chosen to be Ryan's companion hoping the playful cub would have a good effect on the sullen Ryan.
