This young male Lion has traveled far with his mother, they have been running from a dangerous alpha male who seeks to kill them. Unfortunately Matata (troublemaker) caught up with Obi's mother killing her leaving young Obi motherless.Obi who is stricken with grief over the loss of his mother ends up running into another young cub, Kali.

Simba accepts Panya's mother and the two cubs into the pride, Panya's mother makes the decision to surrogate Obi thus giving him the best shot in life.

He has a unique birth mark below his left right eye where the colour is lighter just like his underneath. Kali always comments on how cute or funny looking it becomes when he pulls a face.

After the waterhole incident Obi holds a grudge against Enzi, he would do anything to protect Kali. He doesn't realize how much his future will have to do with this sour cub.

Despite the fact he completely adore's Kali, he makes the decision as a young teen to leave the pridelands. He comes to realize that his departure is inevitable, Kovu has made it clear on numerous occasions that as Kamau will be the Alpha, he will need to leave. His mane has not fully connected at the time and has only really started growing. He leaves before dawn, briefly saying goodbye to Kali, she believes this talk to be a dream.
