Despite his appearance, Kazumi (or Kaz as he's often called), is quite generous and understanding. He would never take advantage of anyone for his own personal gains and believes in helping others when needed. Even so, Kaz is quite the daring lion cub that will rise up to any challenge to show he's not one to be pushed around.

Even though he's young, Kaz has already had a tough life. When Kaz was a cub, his father and leader of the pride was overthrown by a rouge group of three males. As custom, when a pride changes rule, all male cubs from the previous hierarchy are to be killed. Kaz, along with his older adolescent brother Enu and best friend Nkiruka were marked to die by claw and tooth.

Kaz, Enu, and Nkiruka, even though under impossible odds, decide to fight for their families in hopes of keeping everyone together. The two cubs stand their ground against the rouge males but are quickly overwhelmed. Kaz is somehow able to escape with only a few scars across his pelt but Nkiruka and Enu aren't as lucky.

As the last remaining male cub of his father's rule and now unable to return to his mother, he'll have to somehow manage to live on his own. Kaz is forced to live life as a rouge and catch crickets for food until he's older and strong enough to catch bigger prey. Fortunately, he does survive and grows into a handsome young male who's now in search of his own pride to lead.

Despite only being an adolescent, Kaz already has cubs after he crossed paths with a female "in season" from another pride and fell prey to his own natural instincts. Breeding with wandering rouge males is considered high treason for a lioness, so when the cubs were old enough, Kaz found himself raising the cubs alone; their mother abandoning them to return to her pride. He knows nothing about being a parent and knows it's extremely awkward for a rouge lion, who doesn't even have his full mane yet, to have his own cubs.
