She should have been more careful.. Mheetu was her responsibility after he mother died from famine... She had gone out on a hunt, and told her little brother to stay hidden in the underground den she had made for him. The cub was an adventurous soul, and wandered... All of the males of the pride were either banished... Mheetu refused to leave with the older Chumvi, Malka, and Tama.... He was too young to leave his mum. So Nala kept him hidden... He was the last thing she had to love, simba and her mother were gone... Thats why when scar found him and killed him she was devastated. If only she had stayed near, been there to fight off Scar... Perhaps then she and he could have escaped and run off. She blamed herself for his death, and needed to find a way to correct her wrongs...

That's when she decided to leave. At the very least she could avenge her brother, find a stronger male to take down scar and help chase down the hyenas... Perhaps then she would feel less guilty..
