Awena was ignored by her parents from a young age even though it was a miracle birth - no one thought she would survive! They didn't like the fact she was clever. She comes up with a plan to get noticed - to be revolting! It worked, but only for a while. She dreams of being older and so she decides to the leave her parents to prove to herself that she is old enough. She has to try really hard as she is quite shy, but she does it eventually! Then she meets Tulivu who left his Pride because he was different. They fall in love and decide to run away together. They are the founding members of the Utendaji Pride as they get a lot more friends along the way. They find out about everyone's stories one evening.

The Utendaji Pride was set up so I was able to educate everyone on musicals, one of my favourite things (get the pun?)! I just love them and their songs are so powerful, so each member of the Utendaji Pride is related to a different musical. Every picture of them will relate to a song and I will post the link of the song so you are able to listen to it, as well as a context in the story of the musical.
