Vitani sat on the ground, basking in what little remained of the sunlight. She suddenly heard pawsteps and raised her head, sighing with relief as she realized it was just Lekara.
"Hi, Lekara," Vitani said. "How's everything going?"
"Fine," Lekara replied, though she seemed distracted.
"What is it, Lekara?" Vitani said.
"I've been trying to find my parents," Lekara answered.
Vitani sighed exasperatedly. "Your parents are most likely dead, Lekara," she said sympathetically.
"I don't care," Lekara said stubbornly.
"You're not going to find them," Vitani said.
"What a supportive friend you are," Lekara snapped.
"I'm speaking the truth, Lekara," Vitani sighed.
Lekara snorted and stormed away. Had Vitani ever supported her in her search for her parents? A question gnawed at her insides...
Would Vitani even try?
