[Luna the Lioness]

CHAPTER 1

It was a beautiful evening... The sun went down. There was almost no wind. It was the calm and warm evening.

That evening, a young lioness was hunting. She was hoping to get some nice and well-fed zebra. A lioness had pale yelow fur and green eyes. Those eyes squinted as she saw a zebra right in front of her. She strained her muscles and jumped out of the grass but... She failed. Zebra saw her and ran away before the lioness understood it. She stopped and her face frowned... She failed again... She won‘t bring any food to the Pride tonight. The leader of the Pride, king Ahadi, will be very angry, when he finds out she didn‘t catched anything. He always said that she‘s not good enough to be a hunter. But the lioness still tried to catch something everyday. As she failed this evening again, she decided to not come back to Priderock. She will stay some days in the Southlands and then she‘ll come back. And so, the lioness started her journey to the Southlands.

After a few hours of running, the lioness finnaly arrived to the Southlands. It was a bautiful place, there was grass everywhere and from the hill the lioness was standing, you could see the whole valley with a river flowing through it. The lioness went straight to the lake, which was on a left side of the Southlands.

A lioness was so thirsty, that she didn‘t notice a young lion , which was resting on the other side of the lake. She didn‘t saw him but he did. It was a male lion with beautiful mane and pale yellow fur. His eyes were deep blue colour. He silently watched the lioness, which was now trying to find a place to spend the night. On a right side, she saw some rocks with a den in it. She went there, sniffed air and when she made sure, that no one is living here, she lied down on the ground and slept.


When the sun rose, the lioness waked up, too. She yawned, stretched her body and went out of the den. She was looking at the beautiful place, when she saw a lion. It was the same lion but the lioness didn‘t knew that. The lion was drinking water from the lake. Lioness growled and roared but the lion didn‘t rise up his head and even didn‘t glance at her. He was still drinking and he didn‘t looked dangerous, so the lioness decided to talk with him. She carefully went to him and sat down. She noticed that the lion was young and beautiful, his mane were huge and they were flowing, when the wind blowed up. He looked the same age like Mufasa.
Lion rised up his head and looked at the lioness. He sat down, too and then said:
„ You‘re new here, aren‘t you?“
The lioness thought and then answered:
„ Well, not exactly... I‘ve been here a few times but... I‘ve never noticed you here.“
Lion laughed and said:
„ Well, I‘m kinda new here. I found these lands about 5 days ago and decided to stay. It‘s beautiful place with water and prey.“ lion glanced at the water.
„ Oh, yes, it‘s really beautiful.“ lioness agreed. Then she remembered: „ Sorry, I haven‘t told you my name yet. I am Sarafina.“ she smiled.
„ Well, it‘s very nice to meet you, Sarafina. My name is Tau.“ lion smiled back. „ Where are you from, may I ask?“
Sarafina liked his manners and he really seemed friendly. So, she answered:
„ I was born and grown up in Pridelands. The Pride‘s leader, king Ahadi, is very good but often angry king. He rules the Kingdom well, he just need to be a little more nicer... Anyway, yesterday I felt tired of his dissatisfaction of my hunting skills, so I ran away to this place.“ Sarafina finished. „ And where are you from?“
„ Well, I‘m kinda from nowhere... I am a rogue lion, I have no Pride. I was born in Westlands, though. My parents were king and queen and I was their heir. But I didn‘t wanted to be, so when I was teen, I ran away and roamed through the lands, til I came here and stayed. And I think I won‘t leave this place for a long time.“ Tau smiled. Then he stood up and went to the other side of the lake. Sarafina wanted to know more about him, so she ran to him and said:
„ Your story is quite interesting... But I‘m wondering, where do you sleep? I noticed it‘s quite cold at night and I can‘t see any other dens here...“ The lioness looked worried.
„ As you can see, I have quite huge mane...“ Tau smiled gently. „ So, I don‘t chill at night...“ he went to the grass and sat down. „ And here I usually rest and sleep.“
Sarafina looked at the tall grass and thaught: how can he sleep here? But she didn‘t say anything, she just sat down and looked at Tau. Sarafina was fascinated by his beauty. He looked so strong and powerful. Anyway, he was a rogue one, so he had to be strong. Suddenly lioness asked:
„ But what are you doing at the day time, despite the hunting?“
Tau thought a little and answered:
„ Well, I ususally just rest here. No one comes to this place and I often feel alone.“ lion‘s voice sound sad.
„ You know, you‘re not alone now. I‘m here with you. I planned to stay here for some days, to get rest from Ahadi.“ Sarafina sat down near to the lion. She rose her head and looked at Tau‘s eyes. They were deep blue and looked like an ocean. She didn‘t notice that it was time for hunting, when Tau said:
„ I‘m very glad to sit here with you but I think we‘re both quite hungry. Let‘s go to the valley, yesterday I saw a herd of zebras here.“
Sarafina felt ashamed, so she stood up and followed Tau.
After some time, their bellies were full of meat. It was almost night and it was getting colder, so Sarafina said goodbye toTau and went to her den. She lied on the ground and tried to twist in a ball, like she used to do when she was a cub. It was harder now but she made it and felt warmer.
It was a midnight, when a storm came. It was so cold, that Sarafina was chilling in her den. She thought about Tau, how can he stay in the grass... At that time, Tau went in the den. He saw how Sarafina looked like and went straight to her. He lied down to her and laid his head on her. Before he slept, he heard Sarafina whispering:
„Thank you...“
Then both of them fall asleep...
