Questions (One Shot)

This is a One Shot for Trails in The Pridelands about my character Anakin and him turning evil. If you don't know how, go read Trails! It's interesting, you'll love it so much!

Questions


Anakin's mind was filled with questions, about why Kiara would choose Kovu over him. I mean, he's an arrogant Outlander with no respect to her father and Anakin is a Prince from a faraway land, with power and respect to her father, Simba.

He lay in a small, dark cave filled with darkness and unanswered questions. Just where he wanted to be, alone. Away from the heart-breaking princess and her uncaring family. "Kiara, why. I trusted you with everything I had. AND YOU TORE IT TO PIECES." Screaming into the cave, hoping someone would hear his pain and help him out.

A light figure, was standing at the front of the den. His eyes adjusted and he saw the distant figure of his mother. "Mother?" He called as it came forward, was he dying? Is he crazy? No, he couldn't be, his mind didn't work that way.

'Darling? What happened?' The figure said, in his mothers voice. It was her, but isn't she dead? She came closer, and laid beside him and started stroking his chocolate brown mane. Licking his tears away, but they stayed.

"She-She broke my heart. The princess. Kiara." Saying between breathes, nuzzling his head into her soft fur. Still, she glowed, making the cave look bright when really it was still dark.

'Dear, she broke it because she didn't deserve it.' Pausing and licking his cheek again, 'Kovu deserves the ratty Heart-breaker. Not you' Starting to whisper, as his whimpers was louder than her speaking.

"I wanted her though. She's beautiful, gathering looks from her mother. Smarts, from her mother, as-well." Finishing what he was saying and looking outside the den. Realizing what he really wanted.

'Sounds like you really want Nala.' His mother said with ease, looking into his deep orange eyes.

"I-I do." He stopped crying a few moments ago and he turned to his mother. She wasn't there any more. "Mother?" Calling out again, with a thinner voice. Yes ! It was all coming together now. Kiara was her mother and he wanted Kiara but his heart yearned for Nala.

He sat down, and looked down. "But she wants and needs Simba." Starting to cry again, then he looked up. "Unless, I kill Simba and his family. Then I can have her to myself!" Cackling, as he started forming an evil plan.

You may have seen and heard Anakin talking to his mother, but if an animal were to walk by. All it would see was a crazy lion crying and talking to himself. Anakin was by himself, his mind and body were now evil. Evil spirits were attacking his heart, and were now running through his veins.

I do like it, except for one very strong nitpick - Calling him cut-and-dry evil. The world isn't black and white, and nor is it so in fiction. Even supposedly "evil" characters have a few redeeming qualities to them. There are shades of gray everywhere, and when you apply them, your story will get that much better. Nonetheless, it was pretty good.
