First Blood
Ashur and Kokota arrived back home. They found everyone beginning to to get ready for yet another pointless hunt. On the way to their dens they crossed paths with Sarabi. She noticed that the two friends were back early and that Kivuli was not present. She feared the worst and inquired as to what happened 'I see you are both back prematurely, but where is Kivuli? Is he ok?' The friends looked at each other almost in despair. Kokota was the one who spoke up 'That depends what you mean by ok. He's not hurt but something is wrong. He came to train but he was so angry and full of hate. The anger seemed to make hm stronger. He destroyed a rib of one of the skeletons, and then snapped at us for trying to help and demanded we left. So we did'
This news shocked Sarabi to the core. Like Kokota she wondered how such a gentle loving lion could do such a thing 'Oh Kivuli' She thought 'I knew you were angry but what could drive you to the lengths of yelling at your brother?' Sarabi then recalled what Scar had said earlier about Kivuli's mother 'Could it be he heard that? If so then his anger is justified' Sarabi looked Kokota in the eyes. It was time he knew too. 'I know what has caused this. Before Kivuli joined you he had a run in with Scar, I saved him and told him to go. I thought he did but I must be mistaken. What Scar said to me would send any lion into rage' It was time for her to stop holding back and tell Kokota the truth. She took a deep breath before hand 'Your mother didn't just fall to her death. Scar did it. Kivuli must have heard him say it
Kokota now knew how his older brother felt. While his feelings were not as strong as Kivuli's, anger and rage took hold in Kokota. Ashur walked over and tried to comfort him 'I am so sorry Kokota. I wish I could help you' Kokota turned his head to his life long friend and replied 'Help me and my brother train. Helps us become strong enough to kill that tyrant and end this suffering!' Ashur was shaken up by the harsh way he was spoken to. It was understandable why the brothers felt that way so Ashur just nodded in approval
'Whats this I hear? Is it betrayal?' A cold voice came from behind a rock followed by a figure. It was Scar. Ashur and Kokota but up a fighting stance towards the tyrant king and watched his moves carefully 'What was that I heard? Your training to kill me? Don't be so foolish, I could have your heads in a heartbeat' Scar then also took note of Kivuli's absence 'Where is that other pathetic whelp? Tell me now!' Ashur and Kokota stayed strong and held their ground. Ashur snapped at Scar 'We will never tell you! Your nothing more than a murdering tyrant. Kivuli will return and he will kill you. When that happens he will be king and be much better than you could possibly be!' Scars temper was rattled and he smacked Ashur down. Sarabi ran to her adopted sons side
That was it. Kokota had seen enough and pounced on Scar digging his claws and fangs deep into the fur and flesh of the murderer, making his side bleed. Scar responded by digging his own claws into Kokota's stomach, forcing the adolescent to let go, allowing Scar to slam hm onto the ground. By this time Ashur was up and charged in head on. Both lions exchange claw swipes to the muzzle. Scar was knocked off balance but Ashur was not prepared and was sent skidding across the ground where Kokota had been. He had disappeared. Scar looked round but could not find him, and no wonder The cheeky young lion had climbed an outcrop nearby and was ready to jump. In one powerful leap Kokota put all his force into the attack, catching Scar by surprise. The force pushed the king into the dirt and rocks and made him roar in pain as Kokota sunk his fangs in.
Sadly the brave attack was cut short. Scar bit into the flesh of Kokota's neck, forcing the young one to loosen his grip again. Scar took his chance and knocked Kokota down next to Ashur. Scar stood basking in glory, trying to appear strong but his wounds spoke otherwise. Claw marks were scattered along his sides while fang holes had made their mark in his neck. While these wounds were many they were not too deep or serious, they would heal quick, however they fight had left him tired. The adolescents were the same, except their wounds were a bit more worse. The battle ground was covered in blood clotted fur from the deadly fight
Scar began to walk over for the kill. Sarabi stepped in the way. She was also ready to fight. Scar was about to attack, but realized that the rest of the lionesses were lined up behind Sarabi, ready to step in. 'You are either brave or foolish to challenge me Scar hissed. At that moment a large band of hyenas began to surround the lionesses. Scar stepped forward and snarled in Sarabi's face 'If you ever stand up to me again I will have no patience for you All the lionesses settled back down. They were completely outnumbered and surrounded. Scar took his leave back to the main den and the hyenas went their own ways. Sarabi walked over to the lions and licked their muzzles to wake them back up. It didn't take long for them to respond to the motherly love and they were soon on their paws 'That was very brave of both of you, but go and rest now. I have a feeling Kivuli will need you at your best' Sarabi instructed the young lions 'Thanks Sarabi we will' Added Kokota.
The young lions went off to their dens. The lionesses went for their hunt. Scar saw to his wounds and in the depths of the graveyard, Kivuli was hard at work. Today had been rough on everyone. However more danger was on the horizon. The day drew to a close with the lands filling with total darkness. While the pride slept peacefully at Priderock, Kivuli made his bed out of bones of the night and thought to himself 'Tomorrow is your death day Scar. Mark my words, with these paws I will make you blood stain Priderock crimson red!'
