I agree with KM; you're definitely improving. Keep up the good work. It should be interesting to see how the pride reacts to Kivuli's return.

Danger Close

The trail back to the Pridelands was an easy one. Kivuli had made this trip several times with his brother at night to get food, since it was only late afternoon the light provided that extra help, but Kivuli was no idiot. The light was as much his enemy as well as his friend. Others would be able to see him just as easy, so Kivuli needed to be on highest alert. After crossing the croc infested river, and over the small hill, Kivuli once again saw the beauty of the Pridelands and all it could off. The blue skies fading to a pale orange in the west where the sun was already beginning its climb down. Herds could be seen in the distance of each different animal the savanna could offer. Of course the one thing that stood out the most was Priderock

Kivuli couldn't help but just stop and stare at it for while letting his memory take him all the way back to cub hood once more, then the days he spent growing up with Kokota and Ashur, the training they did to kill Scar, Simbas return, watching the pridelands restored. Yet one event was clearest in his mind. The day he met Zizi. At first he didn't know what to do about his assigned task by the king, before he realized that just being a friend was all he needed to do. The pain of leaving Ashur and Zizi still stung hard. He wondered how they both where how much they had changed. Did they forget about Kivuli and move on or were they just as hurt? Eventually Kivuli's mind kept focused on Zizi. Kivuli wasn't afraid to admit she was such a beautiful lioness, but did he like her beyond friendship, did he love her? After the time in the Outlands he didn't know what to think so opted to just lay it to rest for a later though

Finally Kivuli began to move through the deep grass and head towards the waterhole. He knew Zira was planning to attack, but also that she liked using scouts, he wanted to make sure the Pridelands were clear. If Vitani and Nuka could be out here with no issues then who else might be around? Kivuli continued on his way, without issues until he came across the pride hunting party, stalking a bunch of Zebra. He kept as far away as possible but still tried to keep close enough to see who was running it. After a few minutes inspection, Kivuli saw that Sarabi was the pack leader, with Sarafina and a couple others. It made sense, Nala had just given birth so was in no condition to hunt, and this meal was for celebration. As much as Kivuli wanted to sneak round it was too risky. If he was caught that was the end

He waited a good thirty minutes for the hunt to be over. Each lioness bringing in their own kill. Kivuli knew he was missing a party, that much was for sure. As the lionesses moved so did he, finishing the journey to the waterhole. It didn't take longer than ten minutes to arrive and find a good spot nearby to stalk from. He waited for a while observing all the actions he could, watching all the animals, plus a few of the pride, come and go for a early evening drink. When Kivuli was happy that the area was clear, it was time to move to Priderock. It wasn't going to be easy but Kivuli had a plan

He waited for a group of lionesses to head back and stalk them from a distance. Normally a safe distance would have been about twenty five to thirty metres, but Kivuli was intent of not letting them out of his sight and got closer to about eighteen metres. The journey was slow as the lionesses were taking their time. He could her them laughing and joking on. It only served to be a painful reminder of his own friends, he just sucked it up and moved on. Once at Priderock, he lay low nearby, again to observe the area. All seemed fine.

Zira didn't have any more forces in the pridelands so with that he got up and instantly caused an alarm as he heard a cry above 'HELP, OUTSIDER!' It was Zazu, Simba's majordomo, who went squawking into the cave to raise the alarm. Kivuli dashed off as fast as he could to try and make it home. The pride charged outside to see for themselves and instantly gave chase. Kivuli was out numbered and out paced. If he didn't get out of there quick it was game over

Okay, I just read through everything you've done so far in roughly a day...

...and I now wish I had done it sooner!

It is very obvious how much your writing skills have improved since you've started, and if my knowledge and experience are any indication, you're just going to keep on improving. A couple of minor spelling and grammar errors here and there, but let's face it, even if you proofread, you always miss some of your own mistakes, I always do it.

The story is brilliant and engaging, with plenty of drama, action and suspence to suck me in and refuse to let go. Your characters are brilliantly portrayed, your dialogue is solid...all-in-all, you are creating a well-above-average fan fiction, and believe me, I've read quite a few!

Well done, and I can't wait to see where this goes from here...it just had to end on a cliffhanger!

Saving Grace

The chase was on. Kivuli was barely half way back and already the pridelanders were gaining on him. Unless he found a way to lose them or slow them down, Kivuli was dead. 'How could I have been so stupid' He thought to himself 'Coming back here was a fools mistake, there's no way I'm coming out of this alive, but that does not mean I will go down without a fight. At the very least I WILL bring down Simba with me. Revenge will be mine even at the cost of my own life. Zira will strike as soon as he is dead. At least then my brother can live back in these lands, that's if Zira doesn't destroy them... I have to take that chance for my brother'

Kivuli tried to pick up his pace to at least attempt to get out of the pridelands. It was getting dark, which helped due to his colour, but it didn't help his sight. He was running so hard and deep in thought that he wasn't concentrating where he was going and before he knew it, the young lion had collided with something soft and tripped over. He quickly got back on his feet and turned to see what or who it was he hit 'Sorry, I didn't mean to cause you bother. Excuse me I must go' He turned to run again but he heard a call from who ever it was he tripped over yelling his name. Much to his surprise, it was Zizi

The months had been kind to her, she had grown well and lost non of her features, if anything she had got more attractive 'Kivuli, Its you!!!' She screamed with joy and nuzzled him. Kivuli backed off straight away 'Zi I cant, you father is chasing to kill me, if I don't go now you will get in trouble too. Take care' With that he was off again. Soon after Kivuli left, Simba arrived and was equally surprised to see Zizi. He stopped the chase to greet his daughter 'Zi? What are you doing out here?' For a moment she could not speak, Simba actually looked threatening

Regaining her composure she answered the king 'I'm just having a walk, whats wrong, why so many lioness with you?' Zizi knew fine well what was happening, but wasn't going to let anyone do it, not even Simba 'Zazu claims he saw Kivuli running from pride rock, we are going to...' Simba paused a moment, he knew that Zizi still missed Kivuli greatly and any aggression would upset her '... talk with him, the lioness are here just in case something bad happens' Simba gave a warm smile but Zizi was no idiot, she knew Kivuli was being hunted, and she was going to end it

Standing firm she answered her father in a confident tone in order to convince him 'Kivuli? Back here? Daddy you must be seeing thing, it was me running from priderock. I didn't fancy staying for the celebrations and I wanted some air so I came out here' Simba looked into Zizi's eyes. She didn't flinch, didn't turn but just stared right back. 'Ok lets head back' Simba ordered the group 'Zi, don't stay out here too long, I don't trust those outlanders one bit and I don't want to see you hurt' Zizi just chuckled and responded 'Don't worry I will be ok, and I will be home soon' Simba left with his party and left Zizi alone

She stood for a moment to watch Simba leave. Once he was a good distance away she turned to face north, the outlands, the direction Kivuli had gone 'Oh Kivuli, you have no idea how great it feels seeing you here once again. It shows me your still alive and well. Ashur will be thankful your well too but for now.... great kings, I don't want you to leave Kivuli, I need to see you again' With those thoughts running in her mind she took off heading the direction Kivuli had hoping to catch up 'Please Kivuli, don't be gone, I need to see you, at least one more time'
