They say it is better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all. Is it really better to have that great feeling in your heart, only to have it snatched away from beneath you? It leaves a hole where it used to be, and with enough holes being punched through...there is not much heart left. I have lost alot more then I should have. Life was not fair or kind to me, while Simba got everything he wanted. Vengeance. That was my answer. Kill the lion king.
//
His heart hammered in his chest, as the rain poured down upon the pride. The land was being given sustinance after the terrible rule of Scar, and his vicious hyenas. Oh how the others cheered! Oh how they loved to hate and kill! They though themselves far better than Scar, but in the end they were all the same. Morals and virtue changed nothing in Sahau's purple eyes. All of these pride landers were scum.
What of his mate and son? Crying over his now cold and lifeless flesh? Would they not comfort Zira? Would they not even try to justify to Nuka over why Scar needed to die? No. They did not care. Simba did not care. He was always an arrogant, and self centered fool. Sahau wanted to comfort Zira, and tell her death was a part of life. He thought better against it, after all, there was great vengeance in her eyes. Could he help Nuka? No. He'd just end up filling the little cub with hate. Something Zira was going to do anyway, no doubt.
Nala and Simba finally came down to be greeted by the other lionesses. Sahau, stayed behind the crowd, as his mane stuck to his face, only one of his purple eyes visible. His paws dug into the now muddy ground, his heart filled with anger and the familiar pain of loss. He glared at the lion king, and his lying treacherous Queen. "Sahau! Why aren't you celebrating with us?" Nala asked, with a weak smile.
"Celebrate? Of course. You just killed someone's mate and father. Congratulations..." Sahau said with a fake smale, and strong sarcasm as he stood and made his way towards the den. Nala looked to Simba for a moment, and then followed Sahau to the den. Simba continued to celebrate with the others, telling them of how Timon and Pumba pretty much raised him.
Sahau laid down in the den, water dripping from his fur and mane. He closed his eyes, wanting the den to just collapse on him. The world's horrors, and wrong doings were something invisible to the others, but not to him. He saw everything for what it was, and it was never beautiful. Even Nala, the one he loves so dearly, isn't what he thought her to be. She jumped at the chance of being Queen, and left him in the dust.
On that note, he felt something on top of his head. "Sahau..." Nala murmured, a saddened gaze on her face as she moved his mane free from his eyes. "I didn't plan this...I didn't know Simba and I would actually fall in love..." Nala whispered. Sahau's eyes narrowed in anger. What did she say? She didn't plan it? Of course she didn't! This was the working of some higher being, trying to make life just more unbearable for Sahau!
"Talk to me Sahau. Please. I hate seeing you like this." Nala urged him, nudging his cheek.
"What do you want me to say? Do you want me to say, 'Thanks for leaving me for Simba Nala! Really appreciate it!'? Do you want me to ease your guilty conscience and tell you I'm not hurt?" Sahau asked, his voice stern and filled with anger. He moved his head from under Nala's, and sat upright. Nala shook her head no, not believing what she was hearing.
"It's not that at all Sahau! You know more than anyone that I care for you. That I love you -"
"Stop talking. You love yourself. You always have. I can't believe I put some faith in you..." Sahau stated in a low tone, not meeting Nala's eyes. Nala tried to move towards Sahau, to nuzzle him and try to make him feel better. Though she stopped when she heard a warning growl, her eyes filling with tears.
"Sahau...What are you going to do? Are you going to hurt me? What was that growl for? All that time we talked and...and spent time -"
"You weren't thinking of THAT when you were answering nature's call with Simba, were you? WERE YOU?" Sahau snarled, his voice echoing through the walls of the den. Nala was at a loss for words, as she stepped back in fear.
"I'm sorry Sahau..." Nala whispered, her tears almost spilling before she turned and walked out of the den. Sorry? Did sorry change anything? Did he feel any better, with her sorry? He wanted to be with her. He wanted a life with her. He wanted to have a cub with her eyes, and his fur. He wanted to name them. He wanted to be a good father to them. All of that was ripped away. All of his last hopes for life, were torn from him! All because of Simba...
The rain had stopped when Nala walked out of the den, wiping faint tears from her eyes. Simba was waiting with the others outside, watching the sun rise. "Hey Nala. What's wrong?" Simba asked, noticing the faint smudges of tears on her face.
Nala shook her head. "It's nothing. It's just...Sahau..." Nala said quietly. Simba tilted his head.
"What about him?" Simba asked, his ears flicking about. He had no knowledge of Nala and Sahau's relationship, so this situation was pretty much just odd to him. "As king, I'll suppose I'll go talk to him..." Simba murmured as he walked past Nala.
"Simba. That's not a good idea...he and I...I mean..." Nala began to explain. Simba continued walking, wanting to hear from Sahau himself what the major problem was.
"Sahau?" Simba said within the den, looking around. "What's going on? Are you ok?" Simba asked, a concerned tone obvious.
"Stop acting like you care..." Sahau said from a corner of the den, glaring at Simba. Simba sighed.
"I do care Sahau. Everyone does...I don't know where this is coming from. We used to be such good friends...What happened?" Simba asked, his ears flattened against his head.
"We were good friends? You stole my mate to be from me...You took the one thing I had left on this dead and barren land!" Sahau said as he stood, and bared his fangs. Simba's eyes widened at what Sahau just said. Him and Nala were meant to wed? Nala didn't mention Sahau at ALL in the jungle!
"Sahau, I swear, I didn't know. Believe me, I didn't!" Simba explained, shaking his head. Sahau roared.
"LIAR!" Sahau snarled as he jumped at Simba. The two rolled around the den, biting and slashing at each other until Sahau had Simba pinned down by the throat. "Now isn't THIS familiar?" Sahau hissed, his eyes meeting Simba's.
"Sahau, what are you doing!?" Nala asked as she stormed in with the other lionesses. Sahau looked to Nala at the corner of his eye, his right paw raised to inflict the final strike. Sahau's heart beat made a loud thudding in his ears from all the rush.
"We were meant to be! Not you and this murderer! We could've had a family, and just been happy!" Sahau snarled.
"Who ARE you?!" Nala roared, her eyes saddened and filling with tears once more. Sahau's ears twitched at what Nala just said. His eyes were widened, and his claws retracted. He stepped off of Simba, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry..." He murmured as he looked to Nala one last time, and then bound out the den.
