Here's the first chapter, and it takes place after Simba and Mufasa have their memorable talk under the stars. Enjoy, and if you like it let me know for more motivation. I'll try and put out some more soon.

Lion's Tails Ch. 1 – One Day, You'll See
Young Simba was returning home with his father, new life in his legs after realizing why Mufasa had truly been upset. He wasn't mad that I'd left... at least not as mad as he was that I could've died.
Simba felt a warm feeling inside of his body; a sense of the love that his father felt for him, and decided he wouldn't pull any more stunts like he had by going into the Elephant Graveyard.
I almost think I know how he felt. I kinda' felt the same way when that mangy hyena nearly got Nala. Maybe one day I will be as big and strong like Dad... Nah! Who am I kidding? My dad's unbeatable! His roar scared them out of their fur! He knocked them down like they were nothing! My dad's the coolest! I don't have to even worry about becoming as tough as him, 'cause we'll always be together. He said so himself.
Simba got a running start and pounced on top of his father from behind, biting at his fur, trying to bring him to the ground. Much to his surprise, it worked, and Mufasa fell to his side roaring in pain.
"Arrrgh! Son, you got me! Uncle! Uncle!" He sold his act well, and Simba eased up his attack. As soon as he did Mufasa knocked him to the ground and jumped back up to his feet, squaring off with his son as he recovered too.
"Hey! Dad, no fair! You gave up!"
"Hahaha! Says who? Who are you gonna' believe, the enemy?"
"Oh, so you're the enemy, huh?" Simba lowered his shoulders even flatter to the ground, watching intently as his father did the same a few feet from him. "Maybe next time I won't give the 'enemy' a chance to stand back up..."
"Well, what do you think? Is it better to kill your enemy, or make him run away with his tail between his legs?"
"What?! What do you mean?"
"Which one do you think is better?"
"Well, wouldn't killing him make it easier? Then he can't jump back up and attack you from behind!"
"True... true. But let me ask you this: Is it okay for you to kill him because he's the enemy? Doesn't that make you just as bad?"
"Well, yeah..."
"But then again, what if you don't have any other choice? What if the enemy is about to kill your mother? Zazu? Your friend, Nala?"
"Well, I dunno'... Wait! Are you saying it's okay to kill after all? I'm so confused!"
"Haha... don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll get it one day. You are my son. More importantly, what are you going to do right now?"
Mufasa remained perfectly still, his calm demeanor perfectly masking his massive frame. Motionless, but very deadly. Simba on the other hand, was not as in control. His back haunches began to shake back and forth in preparation for his attack, and Mufasa had no trouble timing it perfectly. He knocked Simba out of the air as he had pounced, and laughed as Simba tried getting back to his feet.
"Are you okay Simba? I didn't hurt you too bad did I?" His laugh always got to Simba, and sure enough, the cub was laughing right along with his father. Something about it's deep tone and warmth could always set his fears and troubles aside.
"I'll get you back one day." He let out his best attempt at a roar, only to let a growl escape.
"Haha... I look forward to it, Son. That roar is something we'll need to work on another day too. Now come along. We're almost back. Your mother must be worried sick."
They walked in silence for the rest of the way, which was fine by Simba, since it gave him time to think about what he was going to say to Nala. She's probably wondering what happened to me... I should make her think I was in huge trouble! I'll make myself sound really cool. Yeah.
Upon arriving at Pride Rock, Nala came running up to meet them. “Simba!”
Mufasa smiled and turned to his son. “I'll go tell your mother that you're fine. Be home soon.”
As he made his way up the massive rock structure, Nala reached Simba. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure that Mufasa was out of earshot. “So, how'd it go?”
“He was really mad... kept telling me that I shouldn't go around picking fights, even if it is with hyenas. I could've gotten you hurt. Hey Nala... I'm really sorry.”
“Don't worry about that, I'm fine. I was just worried if you were gonna' be okay...”
“Of course I am. You should know better than to doubt me! I'm gonna' be king, remember!”
“Right... Some king." She rolled her eyes the way Simba secretly liked. "You couldn't even roar earlier!”
“Hey! Give me some time! I haven't even practiced it yet!”
“Well, I didn't mind. Like I said, I thought you were brave...” She let out a shy smile.
“Maybe... but I still didn't do anything...”
“Well personally, I'm just glad you're both still alive.” Zazu landed on a rock near the two cubs, his tone sarcastic, yet caring. “You could have both been seriously hurt. I can only imagine what would have happened if your father hadn't shown up...” The gulping sound he made as he finished his sentence expressed what they all thought pretty well.
“Yeah, I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking about you either. I really am sorry!”
“Hmph. Well, I suppose it was my fault as well. I should have never let you two out of my sight! Oh well. At least we're all still alive... and getting along just fine I see...”
Confused, Simba looked around to see what Zazu had meant. He suddenly realized that Nala's paw was resting on his as they talked with the bird. For a second, he thought about pulling away, but couldn't bring himself to do it. He just had a feeling that she needed to, and he wasn't about to stop her.
“Hey, Nala?”
“Yeah?”
“You're really okay, right? You don't have to pretend so I don't worry...”
“Yeah, I'm okay. I mean, I was really scared before... but I'm much better now that we're home.”
“Alright then.” Simba rubbed his cheek against Nala's to better convey his concern. “I'm really happy to hear you're okay.”
The young lioness rubbed back. “Well, I'm happy to know I can make you happy.”
The two broke apart after a moment and Nala ran back to her mother. “Later Simba!”
“Later!” Simba quickly realized that Zazu was still sitting next to him, smiling. “What do you want, Bird-Brain?”
“Nothing. Nothing at all.” His smile grew wider as they made their way to the lion's den. “I just love watching you two together, that's all.”
“And what's that supposed to mean?”
“I already said it. You two are going to be married!”
“Ewww... not this again. I already told you. She's my friend.”
“What, do you think your mother and father aren't friends?”
“Well...” Simba had to admit, he hadn't thought about that before. He'd have to make a point about asking his dad how he met his mom. So, are you trying to say that friends get married when they grow up? Yuck! But maybe, what if marriage is two friends staying friends forever...? That'd be fine with me.
“I still don't think that's ever gonna' happen, Zazu.”
“And why not, Young Master? You two said it yourselves. You make each other happy, and most of the time, you don't even have a reason. If that's not a form of love, I don't know what is. Most go their whole
lives without ever knowing what that feeling is like.”
“Love? Yuck! Now you really have lost it!”
“So you say now... I remember your father acting quite the same when he was a child. I should expect it though. I say it all the time. You are Mufasa's boy. But, same as him, you'll get it. One day, you'll see...”
Zazu's smile was so big Simba couldn't wait to practice pouncing again.
