Ahadi took one last look at his sister Chaka and sighed, a million memories flashed through his mind as he felt his heart sink. But as he heard a call for help from his young nephew he immediately knew that the time for mourning was later and he snapped into action to help the newborn cub.
Meanwhile a small hyena pup shivered in a corner behind a particularly large skull. Peeking around she saw a small cub, hurt and bleeding. She froze when she saw a strong, powerful lion with beautiful golden fur and a long, full dark mane. Silently she wondered if her mother was going to come back for her.

Uru saw Ahadi's sad face. "Oh honey.....It's okay...I remember when my mother was killed. I was really upset. But you helped me get through it, so, i'm going to help you through Chaka's death.' Uru nuzzled Ahadi on his cheek. "It will be okay honey."

As he felt his Queen nuzzle him Ahadi took a deep breath and as he exhaled he felt the emotions trying to escape. He shook them off though and gave Uru a quick lick. He whispered, Thank you, Sweetheart.
With that he started to search for his nephew. He found the young cub, and scanned his eyes over his little body... he noticed a broken leg and a lot of blood but no other damage could be seen at the moment.
He slowly bent his head down and gave his nephew a quick nuzzle. It's ok, son. I'm here, I'll take care of you.

Shenzi couldn't breathe. She stared helplessly as this massive lion got closer and closer to her. Finally he was only a few feet away... she watched as he cared for the hurt cub. She was overwhelmed with fear as tiny sound escape from her throat. Shenzi started whimper.

Ahadi's head jerked up as he heard a small squeek. He listened closely and realized what he was hearing was a low whimpering. He made a move to find the source of the sound when he heard a tiny voice below him. It was his nephew Neo. A small smile spread across his features. He craned his neck around to find his Queen. Uru, sweetheart, would you mind checking out whatever it is that I hear? I'd do it but I want to get this little one to Rafiki as soon as possible. His gaze fell to the cub under him. Yes son, I'm here. Daddy's here to take care of you. He gave Neo a quick lick and awaited his mate's answer. He realized he may very well be leading his love into an ambush of hungry hyenas but instinct told him otherwise. Whatever hyena attacked his beloved sister surely scampered away when he let out his thunderous roar. He had a feeling this hyena was just looking for an easy meal and happened upon a newborn cub and it's weak mother and thought about nothing else but dinner.

Shenzi's fear multiplied when she realized the lion had heard her. She desperately tried to contain her whimpers but the more she tried the louder they got. Shenzi labored to escape but her limbs were frozen with fear. She felt helpless and gravely lay her head down and shut her eyes tight. Mommy, please help me! Shenzi continued to whimper and awaited her demise.

Uur nodded at Ahadi, and started to sniff around. Then, she caught a scent. She soon got to a rock. Seh turned her head and saw a hyena pup. "Grrrr. What do you want?! Did you hurt the mother?!" Uru swatted at the hyena pup. "What are you doing here?!"

Ahadi gently picked up the cub in his jaws and slowly made his way out of the Graveyard, carelessly kicking animal bones out of his path. Eventually as he reached the opening to the waterhole his eyes burned from the stark contrast of the dim, dusty darkness of the Elephant Graveyard to the blindingly bright African sun which was high in the sky. He lowered his head gently, careful not to jostle Neo around too much, to shield his eyes and waited for them to adjust. As soon as they did he started to make his way to Rafiki's acacia tree. Rafiki will surely know how to help Neo. Ahadi's bright green eye's began to swell up with unshed tears, Poor Chaka. Ahadi swallowed hard and pushed the hurt back down again. There would be time for that later, for now he needed to be strong... for everybody.

Shenzi's heart stopped. She held her breath, she was unbelievably frightened. She couldn't believe what was happening, everything seemed to be happening so fast, she couldn't comprehend that this lioness was right in front of her. As she cowered and her eyes made their way up and met with the lioness she heard a growl then all she saw was a flash of reddish brown then blackness.
