[Baya]

The sky was black with thundering clouds as an adolescent Zira slowly stood from her hiding spot in the tall green grass slowly. Tears stained her cheeks as she slowly approached the carcass of her mother. Her amber eyes had a glossy watered look to them as more tears prepared to fall. Her medium sized paws made small imprints in the grass she walked on as she finally got to her mother's fresh corpse.

"Mother?" Zira whimpered as she placed her paws on her mother's side. "Mother?" Zira called again, still no response. Her mother's flesh was cold to the touch and her eyes were open and lifeless. "MOTHER!?" Zira shouted, the tears began falling again. With another blast of thunder from above, gentle trickles of rain began to come down. Zira could not believe it, she was all alone with her sister now. Her mother was dead...

Zira was walking with her mother while her sister Geni was out practicing her hunting skills, and with a sense of alarm Zira's mother told her to hide in the grass and not move until told to do so. Zira obeyed her mother, not usually one to argue. From her hiding spot in the dense tall grass, she heard and saw everything.

What approached her mother was something commonly seen in these prosperous grass lands, a rogue. A male rogue no less, and he seemed very young and very strong. His fur was an ugly bronze color, and his mane was a dark crimson. His eyes, something that Zira could never forget, were an emerald green with a very distinct hollow look in them. From the brief conversation, the male wanted to mate with her mother, but her mother could not and would not give into his demands. With that, a violent reaction followed.

Zira watched her mother fight off this rogue for a certain period of time before he some how flanked her and with a sickening crack, snapped her neck. He snorted and made a comment about her being too weak to be his mate anyway, and walking off as if nothing happened. How could a creature be so heartless? How could a creature be without any sort of empathy?

Zira stayed by her dead mother's side while it rained. Thunder boomed once again above, and a course of blue lightning made a distinct white flash around her. "Geni! Geni, where are you!?" Zira wailed out, hoping that she hadn't lost her sister too! What would she do all alone out here! She knew the basics of combat and survival, but with that male rogue running around, she had no chance of survival.

"Momma!" Zira wailed again. "Geni!?" Zira screamed, hoping that her sister had heard that time, over the boom of thunder.
