Plot- This is a rewrite of SP with Kopa in place of Kiara and Vitani in place of Kovu.

Simba woke up, surprisingly on his own and not by Kopa waking him up. He definitely did not expect to found his son still sleeping by the time he woke up. 'I promised to show him the kingdom and he doesn't wake me up early? I should have tried this long ago..." he thought, smirking to himself as he stretched and stood up. His mate, Nala, was also still asleep, but Simba had already informed her that he and Kopa will most likely be gone by the time she woke up. After feeling like he was ready to go out, the king quietly walked over to his son and gently nudged him with his nose, "Kopa..." he said, his voice a whisper, "Rise and shine..."

Kopa was finally roused from his sleep. He blinked the sleep from his eyes and looked to his father. "Hi Dad," he said, his usual eagerness beginning to manifest itself. "What are we going to do today?" he asked.

Simba smiled as he saw his son's usual playfulness and curiousity, but he knew that once he reminded his son that they were going to see the kingdom his son would become ten times more excited than he already was. "Have you forgotten? I said I'll show you the kingdom today." he said, preparing himself for a huge wave of cubbish energy.

Kopa's eyes went wide. "YES! I'M READY!" he shouted. "It's going to be a great day today! Just you and me!" he continued, trying to contain himself so that he didn't disturb the rest of the pride.

Simba let out a huge sigh of relief as he noticed that Kopa hadn't woken anyone up like he usually did. "Of course son." he said as he put his large paw over his son's tiny body, hoping that it would somehow keep him quiet, "But before we explore the lands, I'd like to take you to the top of Pride Rock. Are you ready to go?" he asked as he smiled his usual smile at him.

"Yes!" Kopa exclaimed. Oh he couldn't wait to see the lands that he would one day rule. "One day, Dad, I want to be just as good a king as you!" he stated as he began to head for the den entrance.

Simba smiled. He hadn't expected even a little bit less excitement from his son. "I'm sure you will son." he said as he walked with his son outside. He couldn't wait to see whether his son's reaction to the view from the top of Pride Rock would be just like his reaction was back when Mufasa took him.

Kopa began the walk to the top of Pride Rock with his father. The morning was nice and cool, far from the heat that would beat down later in the day. As they got ever closer to the top, Kopa became even more excited.

Simba smiled as he noticed the growing excitement of his son as they both got closer to the top of Pride Rock. Kopa just reminded him of himself as a cub so much. He continued walking silently untill they were at the top, "Here we are Kopa." he said, smiling as he looked at the view. It sure has been alot of time since he had up there last. The last time he was there was with Nala. It was the day after Scar was overthrown. Simba could remember himself looking at the wasteland Scar left behind him and confessing to Nala that he had no idea how they were going to rehabilitate the lands. He also remembered the way she looked him in the eyes and promised that everything would be alright. Smiling to himself, the king looked at his son, "So what do you think?" he asked as he waited to see his son's reaction to the view.
