Kiara brought up a paw to he mouth to cover a mild yawn. She had been walking all night in search for a she could at least sleep and regain her strength, but without any success. The memories of last night kept rushing through her head; The way her mother died trying to protect her, Vitani killing the love of her life and her running away, leaving everyone thinking that she was dead. She kept telling her that she's done the right thing, and that there wasn't anything else she could have done, but she couldn't stop having this urge to just break down into tears after all these events. Her father was probably dead as well, unless the out-numbered pride landers managed to have survived the battle, though it was impossible, there were just too many.
She shook her head and forced the sad thoughts aside once more, when she noticed she was about to enter a clear grass field. She stood there for a moment and sniffed the air, the smell of water was soon recognised by her, and so was the smell of some wildbeasts. There was probably a waterhole or a river somewhere nearby, and something to hunt. If her feelings were true, Kiara knew she was now pregnant, she wasn't going to be able to hunt for herself soon, and it didn't seem like wild animals were going to offer themselves as a meal.
All of a sudden she heard a voice, and quickly hid behind a tree. After a short moment, there was silence, making Kiara come to a conclusion that what ever made that voice was probably by himself. She glanced from behind the tree and soon caught sight of a dark-furred lion, though she had never seen a lion with marks like this one had. He was obviously living here, and Kiara kept reminding herself that she was now a rogue, not a princess, and that not everyone she met will turn out to be friendly. She didn't know whether to approach the lion, it was a very bad idea, now that she thought about it for the second time. She decided to just go somewhere else, hopefully she will find another place to stay. But her tired eyes barely noticed a small tree branch, which cracked and made a snap sound when she accidently placed her leg on it.
