A Friend! (Private)

"It came from this direction!" Kamari sped through the brush and came to the river to see a cheetah running from alligators in the river. The cheetah spotted Simba and Kamari just staring at the alligators. "Don't you two just stand there help me!" it yelled. Kamari couldn't tell if the cheetah was a boy or girl, but he immediately sprang into action grabbing one of the alligators by his claws and biting its throat to kill it. With one alligator down, he and Simba would have to find away to get rid of the other two.

ooc: Alligators don't live in Africa. Crocodiles do.
Running past the new cheetah, Simba saw Kamari take down a crocodile, only to see that the other two were now circling him. Yet another crocodile was getting out of the water into the fray. Simba ran over to Kamari's side and paused. No matter what either of them would do, there was no way they couldn't take on all three crocodiles at once. And when all three were ready to fight, it made it even harder to take them down.

You take left, I'll take right. Simba murmured to Kamari. Kamari called him crazy. What you have a better idea? We stay here, and we will be croc lunch. Simba retorted. Kamari shook his head. Alright, you left, me right, then we take the center. Simba finished. Now!

Simba leaped over the snout of the crocodile on the right as Kamari did the same with the left one. Simba's crocodile didn't want to go down without a fight, and Simba started fighting for his life, trying to avoid getting caught in the large jaws, or mauled by the strong tail. Finally he managed to subdue the crocodile and force it back into the water. He turned to help Kamari and paused.

Kamari had his back against a large clump of trees, backing away from two crocodiles. The center one chose to attack the smaller cheetah over the larger lion. Kamari was unable to handle both. Kamari called for Simba's help as Simba approached the two crocodiles cautiously.

Then out of nowhere, something big dropped from the trees on top of one of the crocodiles, and Simba pounced on the second one. This one proved tougher than the first one Simba messed with, and all he managed to do was force the crocodile to lie flat, using all his strength just to keep the beast from getting free. Kamari! Help! Simba called out frantically. Kamari ran over and swiftly slit the crocodile's throat with his claws. Once the crocodile was dead, Simba quickly told Kamari Go and help the one who screamed. I'll take care of the last croc.

Kamari gave one worried glance at Simba before he ran off into the jungle. Simba turned at the last crocodile, and was surprised to see Delano there, cleaning his claws from the crocodile's claws. You? Simba asked. Why?

Kamari nodded and ran towards the cheetah that seemed to be scared stiff. "Uh, hi!" he said. He noticed she was a girl and was amazed at how pretty she was, but she preferred being a tomboy. "Um, hi. Uh, thank you for killing those horrid things." Kamari nodded, "Yeah, your welcome." he tried to strike up a conversation with her, "So uh, what's your name?" "Meila, and yours?", "It's Kamari. Well since we have someone new around here, I guess we should let everybody know. Hey Simba!" Simba didn't answer that first moment. Delano was telling him about Meila and Kamari behind the two cheetahs backs.

With the crocodiles taken care of, Delano grinned at Simba sheepishly. When I left you, I realized that I owe you guys at least some sort of apology. But then I heard the screaming, and you guys ran over to help. Crocodiles... They are ferocious creatures. But anyways, yeah.. Sorry about the mess I caused back then. But I would still like to teach you guys how to hunt, it can get very interesting.

Simba saw that the apology wasn't something that Delano did often, but it wasn't Kamari, and Kamari was much more offended. You know, I would like to learn, but Kamari took it a lot harder, so you will need to talk to him about it. I can lead you to him. Simba lead Delano to where Kamari ran after the other cheetah. Spotting the two of them talking in a small clearing, Simba stopped, at the same time preventing Delano from moving forwards. What are they doing?

Delano leaned around Simba, trying to get a better look. Both looked embarrassed and shy. Delano tried to contain his laughter. If I am not mistaken, this might get funny real quick. His whole body shook as he tried not to laugh out loud. Simba got the point and had to place a paw on his mouth in order to not make any noise.

Suddenly, Kamari called out for Simba. Delano dropped to the ground and started to edge away, See you in a little bit. and vanished in the jungle foliage.

Kamari called again, and Simba had no choice but to walk over to them.

Kamari chuckled. "Simba, this is Meila and Meila this is Simba, my best friend." Meila nodded "Nice to meet you Simba." "So, uh, how did you get here?" Kamari asked. "Well, I was allowed by my family to take a quick walk when I took a wrong turn and somehow ended up here." Kamari laughed. "Wow, that was a long walk!" Meila blushed, "Yeah, anyways, before you guys show me around, can I have something to eat? Been a while since there was food in my mouth." Kamari nodded. "Well, we have grubs. I don't know about anything else." Kamari looked at Simba with puppy dog eyes as if he were saying "help".

Simba stared, dumbstruck. Well, we., err... we don't have meat. Not yet, anyways... We just have grubs and stuff... He laughed nervously. Kamari looked flat out embarrassed. Simba looked up, wishing he was elsewhere. He squinted when he thought he saw Delano up in a tree. Sure enough, the leopard was there, motioning him to follow. Simba took a deep breath, and turned towards Kamari. Hey, Kamari, listen. I just realized that I need to be at another place. Bye... He quickly gave Kamari a not now! glare before he ran off to where Delano went off to. He quickly spotted the leopard waiting for him.

So how did it go? asked Delano. I'm guessing it could have gone on better. he quickly added when seeing Simba's mad stare.

Why did you bring me here? Kamari's going to kill me now for leaving him alone like that! Simba hissed angrily. Before he could say anything else, Delano stopped him.

For a good reason! Look over there, Delano carefully parted a few bushes to reveal a lone gazelle grazing in a patch of grass.

Simba grunted. So What? All sorts of animals graze in that patch. But we can never catch them. And...

Delano cut him off. I figured out a plan. You charge in front of it, and I will take care of it. But I will only wound it. Then we can bring Kamari in and he can claim a kill.

Simba thought for a moment. But that's a terrible plan! Is there anything better? he asked. Delano shook his head. Reluctantly, Simba agreed, and on Delano's signal, charged the gazelle.

Kamari was still trying to figure out how to help Meila when Simba reappeared, grinning broadly. Hey, Kamari, guess what? I found a gazelle in a clearing back there! Want to get it? While Meila was looking in another direction, Simba quickly told Kamari to play along, and gave him a stern look that told him not to argue. Simba turned and motioned for Kamari to follow him.

Kamari followed Simba, and came to the clearing. He spotted the gazelle, limping badly. Simba motioned for him to get it. You can do it, I know you can. He said.

Kamari nodded and flattened his ears to began his stalk "If it's for Meila I'll do it" he thought. Every time the the gazelle lifted up it's head, Kamari would freeze dead in his tracks. "I know I can do this." he thought, his eyes locked onto the injured gazelle.

When Kamari finally got into within thirty or forty feet within the distance of the gazelle, he sprang into speed. He chased the gazelle for less than 2 minutes and leaped onto it's back. "Come on Kamari you can do this!" he shouted to himself while still struggling to hold onto in the gazelle. The frightened animal ran around kicking trying to get rid of the predator, but Kamari held tight. He finally pulled down the gazelle with all he could and bit the throat. Once he held the throat for about a minute in his mouth, he suddenly realized what he had just done. "I-... I did it. I did it!! Simba I took down a gazelle!!" he screamed running around the dead animal. "I did it! My first gazelle!" he happily trotted over to Simba "Haha Simba! What did ya think of that one?" he prance around showing himself off to Meila.


Meila was still very shocked at how well Kamari did one his first hunt. There was something about him she really liked, but just couldn't quite put her paw on it. "Great job Kamari, that was amazing." Meila complimented. "Oh, Uh-- thanks Meila." he stopped prancing and blushed. He looked at Simba again as if he were saying "You gotta help me win this girl over". Simba chuckled.

Simba knew that he couldn't help Kamari. He didn't know how to deal with girls, let alone those of a different species. But he did congratulate Kamari on his first successful hunt. You did well! I know you can do this, he said, referring to Meila. He then switched to a soft whisper. But don't expect me to help you win her over. I don't know how. As Kamari frowned at him playfully, Simba caught Delano again at the edge of the clearing. Simba nodded at that direction. Gotta go. See you around. he said.

Simba left the clearing and walked over to the leopard. Delano stood there, grinning as usual. Told you guys had potential. How's the cheetah doing?

Simba looked over his shoulder to where he could just barely see Kamari. I think it's going to be a very fun time for us. Kamari's behaving very strangely. Like his mind froze or something.

Delano laughed at Simba's remark.

OCC: I'm making my posts longer now because I think it looks better.
Kamari had over heard the few words "behaving very strangely". "Hey! What do you mean by that?" he turned around and saw Simba and Delano talking. Kamari flattened his ears and let out a quiet snarl and a growl. "You've got to be kidding me." he said to himself. "He's made friends with that horrid animal. I'll show Simba a thing or two about fighting one day." Simba still hadn't replied to Kamari's shout, even though he heard it. Before the leopard and lion parted, the each let out a slight chuckle before saying good-bye.

Meila was still really quite shocked at how well Kamari did on his first hunt, but she thought for sure it was just to impress her. She smiled. "Hey, uh, Kamari, why don't you show me around a little bit? I don't know this place very well." Kamari smiled in agreement, "Sure! Where would you like to go first?" "To the Falls. Over by that log I saw while I was being chased around by the Crocodiles." Kamari nodded and led her into the dense jungle. When Simba turned around, he noticed that Kamari and Meila were gone. He asked the Delano to go up onto a tree to find out where they went. Delano nodded and quickly scampered up a tree.

Simba didn't stay to watch Delano move up in the trees, and instead went off to search for Timon and Pumbaa. That's where Kamari would look for him afterwards. It was strange how Kamari acted differently around Meila. Like he lost all his confidence.

Finding Timon and Pumbaa wasn't difficult. They were hanging out at the most grub infested section of the jungle, feasting on insects. Pumbaa looked up when he saw Simba coming towards them. Hey Simba! What's going on? Where's Kamari? he asked.

Simba let out a small giggle. Not much. But you better leave Kamari alone for a while. I don't think he would like you to come near him while he's... busy. He let out another small giggle.

Pumbaa thought, confused. What? You to had a fight?

Simba laughed. Nah. But you really should leave him alone for now. He'll come when he'll come. It's really quite funny. Simba let out a loud yawn and lay down on a fallen log for a nice nap.
