A Private RP for Labatis

Chaltuu hoped she didn't wake up to blinding sunlight. If there was one think she couldn't stand, it was pale turquoise skies and fluffy white clouds always flying peacefully through the sky. She rather preferred the night, where it was chilly, and prey was often asleep or resting. That made it easy for her to hunt- not to mention that when she hunted at night she couldn't get distracted by the bright, flashing sunlight.
Soon she drifted off into sleep, her fuzzy chin resting on her paws. She shifted a little, but not so much as to disturb Angus. In her mind, with her closed eyes, in her dream all she could see was her father's pair of dark olive-green eyes glaring flint her, and a deep, hate-filled voice yelling, "Exile!" She saw her mother's dull eyes and blank expression, and a small, tawny-furred cub wailing, "Chaltuu, don't leave!"

Angus opened his eyes to see a familiar cub panting and smiling at him. "Perdut..?" He sat up, staring at him with shock. "Come on, Angus! Daddy wants to speak with us!" Angus looked around. Everything seemed bigger than before. Perdut tugged him, forcing him to follow. He found their father smiling with great joy. "Angus, hurry along now." Perdut was now trying to catch up, tripping over his own paws. "Angus, you will take my place as ruler." Perdut felt sad after figuring out what a king was. "Why am I not going to be like daddy? Aren't I good too?" Angus walked up to him, sitting next to him. "Hey, it's alright. Being king has stupid duties. And either way, I'll always treat you as my younger brother." Suddenly, Angus felt older, and he was staring at his brother's lifeless body. His father walked up, coldly watching him. Angus bolted, only to be pinned and brutaly attacked. "HELP!" He roared, seeing the rest of his pridemates back off, murmuring. The chance came. Run, or die. The rest of what he saw was a blur, moving fast as the speed of light.

[Okay! What a... Sweet dream.]

Chaltuu shifted a little more in her sleep.
The cave was dark and warm. Her mother looked tired and exhausted- and Chaltuu thought she deserved it. One tiny golden-furred cub was nursing at Uangaze's belly.
"We'll call her Kapuki," Kivuli rumbled. "It means 'first born daughter'."
"What?!" Chaltuu snapped. "But I'm your first daughter. Or are you as stupid as you look?"
Kivuli growled angrily. "You are no longer my- our daughter. You're not welcome in this family, and you never were!"
Chaltuu's russet fur bristled, but she kept her muzzle shut. She glared resentfully at Uangaze and Kivuli, showing them just how much she loathed them. The feeling, of course, was mutual. Only Kivuli and Uangaze had ever gotten along. Chaltuu wondered if they would treat the peewee cub- Kapuki- like they had treated her.

[That was Chaltuu's dream, hehe. ^^]

[Somewhat. I just realized how rushed my last post seemed, I was using a different device.]

For a second, Angus woke up, observing the area around him. Chaltuu was sleeping, but he couldn't see her shifting in her sleep. He must've fallen back asleep. Now he was sucked into another dream, which was way before his last. "Who is that?" Angus, being the very young cub he was, didn't know that his mother and father gave birth to another cub. "This is Perdut, he is your little brother. But promise me, Angus, you'll always guide him." He couldn't understand the majority of it, but knew he was told to watch over his new brother. With that, he nodded slowly. Angus was officially an adolescent now, with Perdut beginning to grow a mane.

"Angus, can we go play something now? I haven't seen you all day!" He wailed.

"No. I am too busy doi-"

"Doing what? Prancing around thinking you can tell everyone what to do?" Perdut was frustrated, missing his brother's presence.

"Perdut! You know better than to speak to me this way! I am the next king, you should learn to respect me! You never complain to dad because he's king, and you respect him!!" Angus roared, his claws unsheathing. How dare his own brother disrespect him?

"Fine! I'll just go play with the other cubs." With that, Perdut stormed off, his tail held high.

[*wishes to pet Chaltuu* Poor girly. :c]

Chaltuu's dream changed, drifting off. This time her sister was a young cub, her words childish and her voice high-pitched.
"Chalty, will you play with me?" Kapuki queried.
This was the one time Chaltuu would regret what she was saying. "No, Kapuki."
"Why not?" Kapuki complained, her round eyes shining as she gazed up at her older sister.
Chaltuu winced. "I'm sorry, Kapuki, but Uangaze and Kivuli simply won't let me," she explained. That was true; Kivuli had forbade Chaltuu from doing anything other than speaking with Kapuki. Kapuki was prohibited from even playing a flimsy game of hide-and-seek with Chaltuu. The two sisters, though very different, loved each other and wanted nothing more than to be allowed to grow close. Kapuki, Chaltuu realized, was the only one she had ever truly felt the need to protect.

[I still want to pet her. <3 I'll put italics on for the dreams now, so it is less confusing.]

After Perdut stormed off, he looked for a couple cubs to play with. Up until recently, he hadn't been with many other cubs, because his brother was always playing with him.

"Hello, mind if I play with you?" He chirped, poking a dark brown lioness cub. She continued to sleep, as if not noticing him. With a sigh, he sat himself down, staring at his paws. After a while, their mother had approached, and she gave him a soft nudge, beginning to play around with him. That was who Perdut loved to play with now, his parents.

Meanwhile, Angus was trotting around, making sure his pride was safe. However, Angus would snap at whoever got on his bad side, mostly giving them a small scar somewhere. Now he felt that fear was the fastest way to earn their attention. No wonder no one stepped up to help him when his father attacked him. He was a jerk to them.

[Perdut is a sweetheart.]

Chaltuu felt a searing anguish in her muzzle; across her shoulder; down her ear. She yelled out, staggering clumsily out of the den. The blinding sun flashed in her eyes. She was slightly bleeding, and the jagged claw marks running across her snout, shoulder, and ear burned with pain.
She felt a stinging resentment towards her parents. Why did they treat her like garbage? Was that all she was to them? Someone to have to listen to their yelling, their shouting? Was she just a little plaything that was forced to hear their harsh insults, to see their blank but cold expressions?

[Labatis]

[*Holding back tears* I feel so bad for Chaltuu.]

"Angus, listen to me. You need to stop, please! Not only are you injuring our pride, you are nearly killing those who are miles from the territory!" Perdut scolded him, his neck fur bristling.

Angus spun around to see his brother yelling at him, his muscles tensed, and his fur bristling. This was obviously insulting him. "Perdut, just go and play. I don't need you telling me what to do! I am your future king. And you, you're just my pathetic little brother. Remember when our father told me I was going to rule? The reason for that is because I'm oldest, stronger, braver, and the better of the two." He growled, hardly knowing what he was saying now.

Perdut scoffed. "You may be the strongest, bravest, and oldest, but you are obviously not the kinder nor the smarter one. You only take your rank for granted, so others will bow to you! And here I thought you said you'll always count me as your brother, and never treat me differently."

Angus' head was now spinning. His annoying brother was embarrassing him! With great surprise to everyone nearby including Perdut, Angus turned to face his brother. "Enough!" He roared, pinning him down with great force. The lionesses that were watching gasped, too terrified and in shock to interfere. Angus landed the first blow, raking his claws down his brother's shoulder. He had to admit, his brother did inflict minor pain to him, but Angus' attacks were much harder.

Perdut yowled and spat, trying to defend himself. Why is Angus doing this to him? He could only gasp in complete horror and surprise, and try to keep himself strong.

After the yowls, roaring, growls, and spitting, suddenly his brother went limp. At first Angus only thought he was pretending to do this so he could see how much Angus cared for him. "Get up!" He grunted, still snarling. "Get up get up get up!" Now he became shaky and worried, quickly hopping off to inspect him.

Oh, no! Perdut! No! -Squee-]

The words "Exile!" rang forever in Chaltuu's ears. Her head spun, and all she could realize was that she'd be separated from Kapuki forever. She'd never have a chat with Kapuki, she'd never teach her younger sister how to hunt or fight. Uangaze certainly wouldn't do any of that, and Kivuli was always so busy that he never had time for his own cubs.
"Exile!" Kivuli roared once more. He struck the ground with his forepaw. "Get out of here, Chaltuu! You are hereby, and forever exiled! Anyone who sees her crossing the border by sunrise is to kill her on sight! Do you all understand me?!"
Blindly, Chaltuu sped away; as quickly as she could. Her paws swiftly sailed under her, carrying her farther and farther away from everything she knew, everyone she had been raised beside, and everyone she had loved. That was one lioness- Kapuki.

[Perdut is long gone c:< But sometimes when Angus has one of those 'sleepless' nights, he does somewhat see him. Not sure how, I suppose he just pictures his presence next to him.]

Dawn had approached, but it was still mainly dark. However, when Angus woke to see the faintest sunlight, he quickly got up, glad he wouldn't have to deal with the horrible memories that visited him the majority of his nights. He quietly padded over to the small water hole, getting a small drink. Once he finished, he felt like he needed to apologize to someone, though there was only Chaltuu, who appeared to still be asleep, and he didn't think he needed to give her an apology. His paws shifted on the ground, as if the ground was ice.
