Gracie glanced at her cubs again before stalking off, looking closely at the wildebeest herd. She picked out her target, an older male that had strayed away from the herd. She crouched, and slowly began to get closer to her target.

Shani sat quietly in the den, looking around. The cave was much smaller than the one they were staying at until today morning, but as long as Roark wasn't there Shani had no complains. She smiled at her brother but didn't say anything to him, she was going to listen to her mother and keep her promise to her.

[ KK. I'm still working on that 3rd chapter of my fan fic. Hadn't had much time until today and hopefully I'll get closer to finishing today and then get it done tomorrow =) ]

It was all over for the wildebeest as soon as Gracie pounced off the ground. Surprisingly, it only took a couple of minutes of suffocating considering the hooved animal's size. Once it had stopped kicked, Gracie began to drag it back. She knew the cubs would be ok, they didn't disobey her often.

Shani continued sitting quietly until she suddenly heard noise coming from outside. She was about to run outside to greet her mother when it hit her that the source of the noise just might not he mother. Instead, she waited patiently. If it was her mother, she would be there soon.

When Gracie did arrive, she realized there was a jackal sniffing around outside the den. She snarled to make her presence known, and the small dog soon ran off. She watched as he ran and then called the cubs,
"Come on out, it's me!". She placed the kill down and saw Chaka peep his head out, he was grinning.
"Food!", he exclaimed as he ran up to it and started eating. "Thanks Mom".

Shani made sure to give her mother's leg a nothing nuzzle of gratitude before eating. "Thanks mom, you're the best!" at least they had one parent who was a good one. The cub went ahead and began eating, knowing that for once there will be enough food for all three of them.

Gracie gave Shani a nuzzle back before she went to eat. Gracie lay down next to the carcass, keeping it guard as the cubs ate. It was rare another smaller predator would try and steal from a lioness with cubs, but it could happen.

Shani continued eating, this time eating a bit more than a cub normally would because of how inconsiderate Roark was about sharing. Eventually she was done eating, and looked at her mother with a smile, knowing that her mother was about to have a proper meal for once. "Are you going to eat too mom?"
