Vitani just sat there silently. Hurting Kopa's father meant hurting Kopa. She didn't want to do that to the only friend she ever had...

Back at Pride Rock, Kopa was remembering how much fun he had with Vitani. "I hope she's happy," he said to himself.

Nala came out of the den in Pride Rock and saw her son. He seemed to be rather bothered. "Is everything alright Kopa?" she asked as she walked over to her son and sat next to him.

"No. I just hope Vitani is all right," Kopa said. She was the only friend his age he had ever had, and they had been separated by their parents. It made Kopa's heart ache.

Nala sighed, "I'm sorry son, but seeing her again wont be easy. Her mother doesn't like us very much..."

"Why? I thought everyone would be happy that Dad got rid of Scar," Kopa said. After all the stories his parents had told him of Scar's reign, he couldn't imagine that anyone would like him.

Nala said, "Well, believe it or not, there were some who supported Scar and his evil ways..." she sighed, "I know that she's the friend you've never had, but I'm sorry... I don't see a way for this to work out..."

"Ok..." Kopa said. He then buried his face on Nala's front left leg and wept. Oh how he wished he could play with Vitani again. The truth that he would probably never see her again remained in his mind.

Nala hugged her son close, "I'm sorry Kopa..." honestly the only problem of the two being friends was Zira, because she doubted Simba would have a problem, that is, if Vitani wasn't as evil as her mother was. "Promise me you wont go to the outlands again... Not because of Vitani, but because of her mother... You're lucky your father showed up before she did..."
