Amanda looked up at the great king with a mixture of fear and trust. Simba was like a father to her, but he was also their pride's king and guardian, and probably didn't have time for silly little cubs like her. She almost never got to talk to him one on one. He always had more important business to take care of, such as dealing with a hyena intrusion or making sure their food wasn't running short. Usually whenever he passed by, she and her friends would stop their games and scramble for cover. Amanda now felt a bit more mature. Somehow, meeting Kivuli had changed her from being a carefree little cub to a wise young lioness, at least for a while.
"I really don't know, sir." she told him truthfully. "When we came back, we found him here waiting for us, so we assumed he must have gone off and done something bad." she hung her head in shame. "I'm really sorry Your Majesty. Please don't punish my mom. She was just looking out for the well-being of our pride."
Amanda looked out into the drenched savannah. The thunderstorm was getting worse. But she didn't care. She just wanted everything to return to normal again.
