As soon as Delano saw that Muroki had made his way up, he let go of the log and it fell over, crashing into the ground down below. He grubbed his sore jaw, which hurt from the strain of having to hold the log in place. He nodded at Muroki, but was too tired to do much else. Getting the log over to the edge was hard enough, but holding it place rally exhausted him.
Delano lay down on the ground, needing to rest. "Now we just need to get back in time," he said after while. He looked back to where he had placed the rocks Muroki tossed to him and saw that they were still in the same place. He smiled a little. "At least we got the rocks."
But he also felt some anger at Muroki for diving down into the cleft like that. Granted, he was about to do the same with the path they found, but it had crumpled down. Muroki instead chose a way that was only good for going down.
