Seeing the condition that the young cub was in, as well as the sincerity in his mate’s voice, Kopa nodded and abruptly took his leave, making his way up the slope leading to the main den, disappearing within it moments later. Taking note of everything that was going on in the main den, remembering that there were some injured lionesses that were made mention of previously, Kopa stepped lightly, passing by a younger couple of lions who he wasn’t familiar with, who seemed to be enjoying a meal together. Passing them with merely a friendly smile as a greeting, Kopa continued further into the main den, spotting more movement deeper in.
As his eyes adjusted better to the dark environment around him, Kopa spotted another pair of lions, one of which he recognized as being neighbors to where he and Rahina stayed, as his grey fur was a dead giveaway. Still, not being the subject he was here to find and seeing as he was wrapped up with the attention of the younger looking lioness beside him, Kopa let the pair be without disturbing them as his eyes spotted the familiar looking outline of Nala, who seemed to be busy assisting another older looking lioness. Making his way quietly up to her, Kopa spoke in a low tone, as not to bother any of the other pride members who were present.
”Excuse me Queen Nala, but your assistance is needed outside. My mate, Rahina, has come across a cub, who seems to be in not so good condition and she requested that I come and find you for help.”
Hearing Kopa’s request, Nala nodded as she quickly finished patching up Vitani’s wounds with the last of the strong smelling herbs before she nodded to Kopa to lead the way. Taking her subtle hint to heart, Kopa made his way back to where he had left his beloved lioness and the new cub, followed closely by the cream colored queen.
Upon spotting the cub tucked in between Rahina’s fore legs, Nala looked puzzled as she spoke in a low and gentle voice to Rahina, discretely wiping her paws off in the grass to rid herself of the pungent smelling herbs that remained on her paws, just in case she would have to handle the young cub.
”I don’t think this cub belongs to any of our pride members here Rahina. Where did you find her and did you see anything or anyone else around?”
Taking a seat close to Rahina, Nala gave the young cub a thorough scanning over with her eyes, noting the visible birthmark that set the young cub apart, making Nala recall the odd birthmark that was also visible on Taraji.
