Tanga continued to step back from his three tormentors, but for every step he took backwards, the trio took one forwards...and since they were all bigger than him...early adolescents by now...that meant that they slowly gained on him. Fear built up inside the young, undersized, weakened cub...what would they do to him now? He had run away in an attempt to escape them all, and now here they were...Tanga was sure the treatment he usually received from them was going to be tame in comparison to what they were about to put on him.
As Tanga walked back, Tani, the sole lioness of the trio, advanced even closer, nodding to both her companions, silently signalling for them to split up and surround Tanga, so the little runt could not run when he tried...which the dark, muddy-furred lioness was certain he would...he always ran. He always had been too small and weak...and cowardly...to fight back against her and her companions. And she loved it...she loved the feeling of power and domination that she got from belittling Tanga...but then he had run off, and left her bored. And now that he was back, she was going to do a lot more than belittle him, her claws already sliding out, becoming clearly visible as she envisioned how this would go.
"What's the matter, huh?" she asked in a sickly sweet tone. "We haven't seen in you in ages, won't you at least say hi to us?" she chided, smirking as she watched Tanga continue to back away. She could see the pure fear in his eyes...he knew they were going to be a lot rougher with him than they ever had before, and she loved seeing him so afraid of them. He was even shaking already...no-one was there to defend him, or protect him...it was just them, and him, and all the time in the world. Tani had no intentions of actually killing Tanga...but when she and her friends were done with him, it would make the half-healed wounds she could currently see on him seem insignificant.
But even after several more moments, Tanga still had not answered, and Tani decided it was time to give him a little taste of what was in store. "Hey! We asked you a question, now speak up, you worthless runt!" she yelled, her sickly sweet tone turning vicious and cold, completely merciless. She backed up the words with a swipe from her paw, which caught Tanga unawares, causing him to yelp and squeal in pain as the half-exposed claws left shallow gashes across one of his cheeks.
But Tanga did nothing to defend himself, knowing such a futile effort would only result in even more pain. He simply jerked his injured cheek away from Tani's vicious claws, lowering his head, feeling completely small and worthless already...and they had barely even started. In his fear and self-hatred, he still did not speak, which caused Tani to roll her eyes, looking at her two companions, wondering what they would do...she might be the so-called 'leader' of their little group, but she couldn't really care less what Mwamba and Zamani did right now...she was giving them free reign on their favourite target, and Tanga knew that he was in big, big trouble.
