"Hmph." Kitama exhaled through her nostrils sharply, her expression becoming (if that was even possible) even more grumpy. Chiwa's story seemed plausible enough. "All right," the old lioness said, her brown eyes not leaving Chiwa's, "I believe you. Doesn't mean I have to like you yet, though."
And with those few and simple words, Kitama flopped neatly into a little pile on the ground, her feet under her chin and her tail flicking back and forth.
What Chiwa probably didn't realize was the weight of Kitama's words and actions; as the old lioness looked into Chiwa's eyes, she saw truth, and maybe something hidden, but no harmful intent was read in her eyes. Kitama didn't just believe lionesses higgledy piggledy, no--Kitama saw what Chiwa had to say underneath her words. Also, the fact that she'd lain in front of the new lioness, injured or no, spoke volumes; it meant that Kitama expected no attack from Chiwa and that she trusted her not to try anything.
