The Pride Lands (Zeke, NM, kovu42, morri908)

Mila could not hear a thing, but was able to see Zeke motion towards something. She had no idea what it was, but as she trusted Zeke fully, followed him without any question or doubt in her mind.

Little did any of the travelers know that ahead of them there would be no cave. They would be treated with another rock formation.. or lack of rock.

Tai was freezing to death. He hoped that they would find shelter soon, or that the storm would let up soon. He noticed that the ground was getting slippery, and he got as close to the mountain as he could. He looked up for a moment to see if the dark spot was a cave or not, the conditions weren't getting any better for them. Tai didn't know how much longer he could make it through this weather, and he knew that neither Nanati nor Mila could make it much farther.

Zeke hurried foreward to find that the cave had a small entrance, hardly enough for one lion to get in at a time. He waited for his friends to catch up. He could feel the warm air from inside the cave emitting from the entrance and was tempted to sneak in but he had to make sure his friends were safe and out of the cold first.

Mila was following Zeke and attempted to keep up, but was just unsuccessful. He was going to fast for Mila to keep up in such horrible weather conditions. His tail left her muzzle, which caused her to have a panic attack, since she had no idea where anybody was from the snow that would cover her face and burn her eyes if she looked up. She kept on moving, unaware of the slippery icy terrain that Zeke had just barely passed as he made it into the mouth of the cave. Mila, being confused on where she was and just heading straight in a line, reached a paw out to take another step.

Nanati was also following Tai just as Mila had been following Zeke, when she heard a little yelp come from her right. She looked over slightly to see Mila slipping down where they had just been coming from, obviously not in control of herself.
Nanati tugged on Tai's tail hard, ripping a hair or two out as she jerked her head towards Mila, who was falling. No longer concerned with the weather conditions, she ran back down towards her friend, in a desperate attempt to stop her fall. But SHE stopped as she looked in horror towards where Mila was headed.

At the end of the little hill Mila was slipping quickly down, there was something none of the 4 wanted to see. A cliff.

Tai felt the hairs on his tail being ripped out. He turned around to see why Nanati was pulling on his tail so hard, he looked up to see Mila slipping down a hill. He looked back toward Zeke and roared, hoping that he'd understand that something is wrong. Then he ran toward Mila, being cautious of the slippery slope.

A muffled roar echoed through the cave and Zeke turned back to find that his friends hadn't followed him in. I thought they were behind me, He thought as he took off toward then entrance. He did not slow down as he went through the small entrance and slid across the ice that coated the slick rock. His breath left him as he entered the ice cold blizzard but he persisted toward the roar. He found Tai and passed him up going full speed past him, looking for Mila.

Mila had no idea what was happening as she began her fall. She desperately tried to flip herself over to grab hold of the ground, but her expanded belly made it hard to do so. She kept sliding down and sliding down, unsure of when she would stop. She just prayed that every thing would turn out alright, until she turned her head back to make sure where she was headed. Panic struck every little delicate hair in her body when she saw a massive cliff at the end of the ice. In an attempt to save herself, she dug her claws into the ice with tremendous strength, hoping it would stop her. Her claws slowed her down enough so she wouldn't fall off the cliff entirely, but more then three quarters of her body was off the cliff. She was hanging on by her claws on one arm, against a violent wind that saw her as a leaf that would just as easily float if she fell. Her strength was not enough to stop her from falling off completely, for her claws kept moving back, millimeter by millimeter, and there was nothing Mila could do about it. She looked towards where she knew her friends were, desperate to just see one of them so she knew that help was incoming.

Nanati broke her fear stricken paralysis once Mila had disappeared and saw Zeke dash in front of her. No way would she just sit back and watch as her friend fall. She got right behind Zeke and began following the lion towards Mila who looked intensely terrified.

Zeke reached the steep slope and saw Mila struggling to hold on for her live on the edge of the cliff. He flung himself onto his stomach and turned backward, jabbing his sharp claws into the and continued to slide down to where Mila was. He too was sliding off the cliff but managed to slow himself to a complete stop right above Mila. He reached down in an attempt to grasp her coat but she was just out of reach. Knowing that if he attempted to go any lower he would surely fall, Zeke roared out over the howling wind to Mila. "Mila! Mila grab my paw!" He knew he could not last much longer holding on by just one paw but he was determined to save his friend.

Tai followed Zeke and Nanati, hoping that the three of them could save Mila. He watched as Zeke slid down the hill, he tried to follow but didn't because he was afraid of falling. He just stood back trying to find a safer way to Mila.

Mila had no idea what was happening until she heard Zeke's faint voice calling for her paw. Fully trusting Zeke, she reached out her paw that wasn't dug into the ground, only to be blown back by a strong gust of wind. The wind was so strong, that it even pushed her entire body, and her claw along with it. Immediately upon realizing that she was going to fall, Mila dug her claws even harder into the thick ice, without success. The wind and the snow was such a powerful force, that it tore Mila's claw from the edge of the cliffs ice, and she fell.

Mila, now realizing that this was her last few seconds of precious life, looked up towards Zeke as she fell, back towards the ground. She mouthed the words "I love you" to him, as two tears trickled down her beautiful cheeks.

And then she disappeared into the fog.
