Imani looked down at her mate, listening to him talk to her. He sure didn't know when to give up that was for sure and it made her smile mentally. He's such a goof, she thought to herself lightly. Although he and she were trying to keep the mood light, it was obvious in her eyes and probably everyone else's that he was hurt and in so much pain that he could barely even talk. Seeing him this way, hurt and bruised, not to mention bloody, it made her rage towards her older twin's mate even stronger. She knew things were probably going to get ugly when Ra found out what happened and went after them for it. Was Ra going to go after Imani for this? She didn't know, but she knew that she did what was best for her pride and she couldn't please everyone with the actions she saw fit for the situations.
Still with her paw placed on her mate's neck to keep the blood from gushing out to a death she refused to see, she sighed out and closed her eyes. "Ra and I were cubs, but Kamau was a teen," as her eyes were closed, she could vividly see images, almost in a third lion point of view as the words progressed to tell the story, "I loved brother very much, as I'm sure Ra did as well, but the difference between us twins was that Ra knew to leave Kamau alone whilst I was the one who was always trying to play with him. But Kamau...he didn't want to play with me most of the time, and the times he did play with me was when mother told him to, and even then he was so distant".
She took in a breath, "father was very ill. We didn't know why, we just knew he had something that was deadly. And soon, we found out that mother caught it as well. Soon enough, father was dead and mother was slowly dying. Because Ra and I were the only cubs in the pride, mother instructed Kamau to be our parental figure for the time of her death and take care of us. But..." she opened her eyes and looked at her paw, seeing blood was seeping through the openings of her toes. She blinked and kept them open, "he ran off with his mate and he started his own pride. Ever since then, Ra and I were rogue cubs, getting the help of some lionesses and lions while we adventured through the Pridelands for the time until we were old enough to have learned how to make it on our own". She looked down at Tanga and then the others where she gave a nervous laugh and opened her mouth to say something more, "we must have done a pretty good job at caring for ourselves" she laughed.
Imani knew why she was the way she was now--- she barely had a childhood to be a child, and it was when she was a cub that she was forced to grow up. And since the cub nature of her was never lived out, she reverted back to it when she was old enough to know she was in no danger of having something terrible like this happen to her again. The wind blew among them and she looked up to the sunset sky. The lioness took in a breath and closed her eyes once more.
"Take me somewhere nice
To some tired island
In your heart called
Paradise
Though we wander home
We both feel alone
Like escapees with nowhere to go
I can think of a thousand ways
To get good and lost
Beyond these hopeless days
Where we'll rendezvous
Out of the blue,
And take a deep breath,
Just we two.
And we'll be so far gone,
The oars will roll on
And we will happily
Wave so long.
If we hook a dream,
And it tows us back down
This open stream
We'll say hello.
Oh, oh,
Take us wherever you go."
She sang for the others to hear, not afraid to have anyone hear the song she would sing to Ra sometimes. Mostly, she sang it in private to herself seeing as how she didn't have much confidence in her voice in the first place.
Kioja looked at Imani singing, and listened to her, taking in all of the history she already knew about Kamau and his siblings and parents. She knew it...but Imani didn't know the whole story. She wanted to tell her so badly to make sure she didn't get the wrong image of her leader after all this time, but she kept silent. Perhaps it would be better if she told Imani while Ra was there with her as well. Kioja turned her head to Auni and studied him for a moment before she gave him her answer. She saw what was running through his mind just by looking through his eyes. Sighing out, she nodded her head. "And you?" She did her best to give a soft smile, but she didn't do it often.
