The trainer was once again in front of the assembled trainees. "It's been many days since we first started here," he said, "and I am glad to see that most of you are still with us." He looked at all of them, analyzing them. "You will be most glad to hear that the worst part is in fact behind us." At this, a few sighs of relief were heard. Because no matter how used to get to it, hard work is still hard. "Soon, we will start putting what we learned to the test. At first, it will be easy. Patrols and the like. But after that, you will have to start using what you learned. And if you pass that, you will finish here and be able to get on with your lives"

Delano was thrilled. Soon they might even get along and start actually doing things.

Muroki was also relieved. The trainer also didn't seem to want to throw them out anymore, which was also good.

The trainer wasn't done. "Tomorrow I will lead you on a patrol. Show you how to do it properly. We will do that a few times, and then I will let you lose and let you do it yourselves."

Delano was impressed. Before that, the trainer never allowed them to do anything alone.

Muroki was glad that they will have a chance to get away from the trainer for a while.

The trainer lead them out. "I am sure that all of you are familiar with the boundaries of our lands," he said. "I will walk you through the first legs of the patrol, and if you do well yourselves, I might even let you continue alone." Together, they walked towards the nearest border.

As they walked, Delano got confused over something. "Didn't the trainer say that we would go on the first patrol in several days?" He asked Muroki.

Finally, they arrived. The border reminded Delano of the first time they came stumbling into the lands after their parents died, and to Kasi. Briefly, he wondered how their cousin was doing.

Muroki shrugged as they all followed the trainer. "I don't know. Maybe he's showing us how it's done."


Meanwhile, back at where the pride stayed, Lina and Umeme have both been wondering about Muroki' and Delano whereabouts. Kasi didn't seem to have noticed, but they both agreed that it made no sense for him to not notice that his cousins were gone for a few days. He was probably hiding something.

Delano looked around, watching the landscape around him. "Haven't been here in a while, have we?" He asked Muroki. "Been some time since we walked this far away from the cave system." He looked behind him into the lands. "Can't wait to finish here," he commented.

Muroki sighed, "Trust me, I can't wait either."


Lina was still looking at Kasi, who was some distance away from her and Umeme, "He's got to be hiding something from us, I can just tell..."

Delano smiled a little bit. "And then we'll be able to get on with our plans. Infiltrate the..." He realized that he forgot the word he was looking for. "Find out who was responsible for the murders." He simply said. "I've had enough hanging out here."


Kasi heard Lina and Umeme talking behind him. "What did you say?" He asked, not having understood.

Umeme looked at Kasi. "Oh, nothing important. Just talking to ourselves," she replied, and waited for Kasi to ignore them. "I think he knows something that we don't." She said.

Muroki sighed, "I've had enough hanging out here after 5 minutes since we started."


Lina nodded and looked at Umeme, "Yeah. His cousins have been gone fir a few days and he acts as if they don't even exist..."
