Tanga stared at the lioness for several moments, stunned. She wanted him to protect her and comfort her...and love her? He turned back to where he had seen the lioness run, wondering inwardly if what the lioness said was true. Did she see more of his heart than even he himself saw?
In the end, Tanga realised, it did not matter. The lioness was already well on her way, and if he did not move now, he would never find her...and despite his desire to help the bold lioness in front of him, he knew that she was happy holding Mufalfa off...and that the brown lioness would need someone to help her move on after today.
As Mufalfa's darker side surface again, and he demanded that they leave once more, Tanga responded to te lioness' pleas. "Okay," he finally said, giving the bold lioness a single nod, turning to leave. Just before he did, though, he turned back one last time. "Live through this, and return to her," he said, with a mild note of pleading. "But I'll do my best in your place." And without waiting for the lioness' reply, he turned and left Mufalfa's den, chasing after the brown lioness.
He followed her until he sensed that they were reaching to edge of Mufalfa's territory, where he saw the lioness stop. At this point, just as she was turning, he called out to her. "Hey, wait, please!"
