"That's true... But if we don't have a leader anymore... this pride is going to be reduced to turmoil," Yegath replied softly. She supposed he was right. Gyasi had not been a selfish leader,- on the contrary- but she had assumed that some of the lionesses in the pride would have tried to usher him ahead, though deep down she knew he would have made sure the others had escaped first.
She didn't even know what they'd do without a leader. Gyasi had been the one to calm them during rough patches, help solve disputes. Though the pride wasn't full of conflicts, without a leader, there would be serious problems. She knew there was no use trying to convince herself

"How about we go looking for him when... when the fire dies out?" Mnyama suggested. She was trying to hold herself together for the sake of her friends, but found it was harder than she thought.

Muroki was feeling just as discouraged because of the situation as Yegath clearly was, but seeing her look so spiritless made him even more uneasy. "Hey, it'll be alright." he said, smiling at the lioness as reassuringly as he could. True, he had no idea whether Gyasi was alright, but he couldn't help but try to be cheerful for her sake as well as his sister's and Mnyama's as well, even if he himself wasn't so sure of what would happen to them if their leader had perished.

(Let's say the crush is mutual?)

"Well, we can't look for him before that happens..." said Marini with an expression of agitation and impatience in response to Mnyama's suggestion. She hated this same feeling from before - again she could do nothing but pray for the best...

Yegath shuffled her paws. Even though she wasn't sure what would happen if Gyasi really was dead, she knew it wouldn't be good. The pride had no males other than Muroki to take over the duties of leadership.

"Of course we can't," Mnyama replied shortly. "But at least the fire is starting to get extinguished..." she added with a hopeful look on her face. Perhaps the fact that the lack of foliage helped quicken the pace of the dying fire could buy Gyasi time...

Muroki slowly sat up, hesitating for a short moment before gently placing a paw on Yegath's shoulder (both because his paw pads had received burns in the fire and because he didn't know how the lioness would react). "Don't worry, okay?" That was quite a lot to ask for given the circumstances, but it would mean a lot to the young male if she calmed down even by a little bit. "Can you try? For me?"

Marini nodded. Gyasi's odds of still being alive weren't important. Nothing could change the very simple fact that they needed to go look for their leader and help him in case he was hurt just like he would have come to their rescue.She'd expected the sight of the weakening flames to make her feel better, but she was dreading what they might find...

Yegath paused, but nodded after a brief moment's hesitation. "All right," she replied quietly. "I'll try." She glanced over at Mnyama, who looked just as anxious as everyone else.

After many long, painstaking minutes, the fire seemed to have died down enough for a couple of lions to safely enter without fear of danger. Mnyama swallowed. "We should check," she said, starting to trot ahead. She didn't wait for Marini or Muroki or Yegath to reply- her main priority at the moment was to be able to check for their leader. She knew if they somehow, miraculously, found him and he was alive, he would most likely have suffered severe burns.

Noticing the fire die out completely, Muroki moved from sitting to standing up, which did put some more unnecessary strain on his aching, stinging paws. "Wait for me!" he said, beginning to limp after Mnyama and his sister with Yegath at his side as the rest of the pride followed as well. Perhaps it would be better for him to rest (he was probably going to hear that from at least a few pride membera), but the young lion wanted to help out as much as he could in finding Gyasi, even if not by much.

Yegath looked at him, slightly alarmed. "Be careful," she warned, using her shoulder to help support him. She didn't want him to strain his paws too much.
Mnyama decided against running, though her paws itched to just be able to start the search for Gyasi as quickly as possible, but she knew she had to wait up for Yegath and Muroki. She sniffed the air without thinking, but all she could scent was smoke. It wasn't as thick, thankfully, but she knew trying to track Gyasi by his scent would be no use.

Muroki looked at Yegath with an expression of slight surprise on his face when he suddenly felt her shoulder press against his own. "Th-thanks..." he said a few moments later as he managed to find his voice, leaning against her a little while hoping she wouldn't notice the slight blush forming on his cheeks. Hopefully she'd mistake it for another burn if she did. Her supporting him didn't reduce the strain on his paws as they and the rest of the pride made their way through the ashes (with Mnyama and Marini leading the way), but it did reduce the risk of him accidentally falling over and make him feel more secure about walking.

Yegath didn't reply, and a small inclination of her head was her only response. The singed foliage and ashes scattered around made her uneasy. Where could Gyasi be in the wreckage?
Mnyama glanced around, hoping to spot Gyasi somewhere. She knew calling his name would probably be fruitless. "If there's hardly anything but ashes, where is he?" she muttered anxiously to Marini.

Marini's efforts of spotting Gyasi anywhere were just as fruitless as everybody else's. There was nothing but ashes around them and, just like Mnyama had mentioned, nothing could possibly obscure their leader from their view. "I don't know..." replied she uneasily. If the lion they were looking for was nowhere to be seen... No, they couldn't give up yet. Perhaps he was lying somewhere, wounded, his fur darkened and scorched, making it more difficult to spot him?
