Zekyu sighed. "My father is the king of hell. A devil. He's a death sentence to so many, including me. You can't let your guard down for a mere second." She rose to her paws. "Even though my mother supported me when I was a cub, I don't know about now. But if you wanna die with me, that's fine." Smiling for a split second, she turned and headed back to her birth pride.
When they got to the border, a beautiful one-horned lioness approached them, sneering when she saw Zekyu. "Why did you turn around?" She snapped, narrowing her sapphire blue eyes. The lioness had three main colors in her fur; black, yellow, and chartreuse. Even though she had only one horn, which gave her a disadvantage, she was still a life-threatening being. "Lord Zavok won't be too thrilled to see you, y'know."
Zekyu kneeled down into a submissive position. "Not my decision, Zeena."
"Cut the crap!" Zeena snarled, and Zekyu immediately stood up. "I don't care who's decision it was, I'm just going to say it right now, it was a stupid one!"
Zekyu shot Cole a 'I told you so' glance, and then looked back towards Zeena. "Can you escort us to Dad's den, please?"
"Yeah, whatever, just don't expect him to be mister nice guy." Turning around, Zeena walked away, Zekyu in hot pursuit.
"Zavok, milord? You have guests." Zeena called into the king's cave, and Zekyu shuttered nervously when she heard her father say, "Bring them in." Coming to stand at the mouth of the cave, she watched Zavok frown, but instead of focusing on him, she looked around the den. It was different from the last time she was in there. Zavok was laying on a zebra pelt, Kelsey sleeping beside him, his tail resting on her body like a blanket. There was fire burning on some logs, which Zekyu guessed her father was controlling. When Zavok tapped his claws on the den floor, Zekyu turned to face him again.
"Honestly, young ones, is there something you need from me?" Zavok said calmly, blinking his purple eyes. "You have been pestering me for hours now, and only desperate folks do that sort of thing."
