The freshest scent lead to the hole in the back of the cave, and then into the nearest river. That's when the trail ran cold, because the water removed her scent for quite a distance.

Mosi sniffed around.
Mosi: Honey.....

Nafsi was running in the desert, her tongue lolling out on the remaining side of her mouth. She came to a den and she peeked inside.
"Rangi?" She panted. Two electric blue eyes appeared.
"Ah, Nafsi." A beige lioness littered with scars emerged. "How are you doing?"
"Fine. Other than loosing half of my face, I'm good."
The lioness smirked darkly. "Think of it as a badge."

Mosi: Where'd she go?! Nafsi!?!?!?

[Kipekee]

"Do you want to sharpen your skills?"
"Can you meet at the River Pride border in a few weeks?"
"I sure can, dear. I'll see you in three weeks at midnight. Don't forget."
The beige lioness turned and disappeared in the darkness.
"Don't let Kuruka see you."
Nafsi nodded, and then turned around, running back to the savannah. But she wasn't going to return home yet.

Mosi: Nafsi!!!!!??!?!?? NAFSI!?!?!?

She stopped at a den, two prides down from home.
"Eoko? Are you in there?"
She almost was afraid when she got no answer, but another cheetah emerged, a little younger than Nafsi herself.
"Hi."
"Do you recognize me?"
"Barely. What happened to you, Naf?"
"Lion attack."
"Well, dang. That's a reminder of how dangerous they are."
"I have a lion as a mate!"
"Lucky you, Nafsi. Lucky you."

In the distance, Mosi is yelling for his mate.

She darted in the cave, and Eoko flicked her ears. "Nafsi?"
"I don't wanna go home yet!"

[Adofo]

Mosi went up to the cave and talked to the cheetah at the entrance.
Mosi: Excuse me, ma'am....have you seen my mate? Cheetah, one eye, beaten up looking but....as beautiful as the night sky! Have you seen her?
