Kiara was shocked and disturbed by her mate's fears. This certainly wasn't a subject she enjoyed discussing.
"Great Kings Kovu," she said, clearly disturbed by her mate's troubling thoughts, "don't you think it's a little early to worry about our babies growing up to hate each other as rivals?"
Kiara snuggled her head against her cubs, wrapping them between her paws and muzzle. She couldn't imagine these helpless little lives ever threatening each other.

"Well then," Zira said more interested than intimidated at the thought of meeting some dangerous rogues. "Let's hope they're dangerous enough to make us a new home... Out of Simba's old one." Zira's last words were soft, and faded into a chuckle as she thought about mounting a renewed offence against the pridelands.
Zira lead Shwari tirelessly across the desert. She kept the pace relatively slow, hoping to run into wanderers. Every few hours they'd manage to find an oasis. Zira knew that it was at one of these that she'd have her best chance of meeting a stranger.
