Saka gasped as he leaped from the water to land with the last ounce of his strength. He lay panting a moment before looking to where he'd helped the cub and his mother out of the water, the frowned. The lioness wasn't there. Saka turned and saw her paddling towards him. Stupidly, he dropped into the water to meet her. "Are you okay?" She merely glared at him and paddled past, pulling herself up out of the water with her forepaws, then shakin herself dry. Saka could barely pull himself up. He laid down again, breathing hard,"Well. At. Least. We. Are . On. The. Right. Side. Of. The. River."

Rachelley looked at the male lion and shook herself off. The water splayed everywhere soaking the lion again. Then with her head held high she started to walk back towards her cub.

Saka frowned and leapt up and the lioness marched past him,"Hey! Where are you going?!"
He winced and held his breath as pain bolted through his legs. He trotted up to her as she reached her cub."Are you coming with me, or am I carrying you and your cub?"

Rachelley snarled at him, "I don't need you're help. Stay away from me and my son." with that she turned and started to walk away stiff legged. Futenal refused to move though, looking up at the big male lion in awe he smiled shyly. "Do you have any food?"

Shahallie noticed Tiaret walking back and forth worriedly. She kept mumbling to herself,

"Where could he be? He better come here soon."

Shahallie walked over to Tiaret.

"Hey, how are you feeling?"

"Ehhhhh. Not the best." Tiaret replied, continually walking back and forth.

"I can get you something to eat....."

"Hmmmmmmmmm." Tiaret said, uninterested.

"......or I can go find Saka and bring him back."

Suddenly, Tiaret leaped up on Shahallie and licked his cheek.

"Really?! Thank you sooooooo much! I'm worried sick about him."

"Hey no problem." Shahallie said, blushing a little. He then took off down the river, hoping to find Tiaret's brother. In the distance, Vida was taking input of the whole scene, and was feeling a little jealous of Tiaret.

Vida growled, wishing Saka would appreciate her as much as Tiaret appreciated Shahallie. She then realized that all she was truly looking for was attention, and Saka was the only one who'd ever given it to her. Though the attention he gave her was not of the sort she wanted, but Shahallie may give her that. She sighed deeply, remembering that she also wanted to be queen. Vida grinned evilly as she pictured Shahallie and she killing Saka and Tiaret. Yes, they could do it, but only together. Then thoughts of the other lioness strayed into her mind, making her grin gleeful rather than evil. The strange lioness would help them. She decided to inform Shahallie of her intentions once she could trust him.

Saka smiled slightly and brought his enormous head as close to the tiny cubs as he could,"I bet I could find something." He hurried off, trying not to limp visibly. He spotted a herd of zebras stampeding away from fire, the crouched. He knew he was insane for doing this, period, let alone as hurt as he was. He sighed and charged into the running beast, jumping on the fattest male he could find. He clung on until the others had passed this one up, then dispatched it with a quick slash to its throat. He wearily tossed it onto his back and padded back towards the cub and his mother. The cub was still there, his mother a little ways ahead of him. Saka groaned and laid the zebra down,"Is this enough?" He frowned quizzically as Shahallie trotted towards him,"I thought I told you to take Vida and Tiaret over the river and keep going?!" His voice was strong and angry, not betraying his physical injuries.

OOC: that first sentence in paragraph two is supposed to say: Saka brought his enormous head as close to eye-level with the little cubs as he could.

Seeing Saka drag food back to feed her cub made her rethink about trusting him. She was about to talk to him when she saw another lion come up. With a growl she told Futenal to get back.

Saka stepped in front of the lioness and her cub, then turned to face them,"It's okay, I won't let him hurt you."
He looked into the lioness's eyes,"Trust me." He gave a small smile at the cub, then beckoned towards the dead zebra,"Go on." He turned back to Shahallie,"Carry that back for Tiaret and Vida." He nodded encouragingly as the lioness hesitated,"It's okay...you can trust us." He beckoned towards Shahallie.

Shahallie gave a smile as he swiped a generous piece off the dead zebra for the lioness and her cub. He then put the dead corpse of the zebra on his back.

"Yeah. We can help you and your cub."

He then turned towards Saka.

"Tiaret is worried sick about you. You need to get to her fast to reassure her that your ok." He started off, but then stopped. "You are ok, aren't you?"
