Captive's Struggle [PRIVATE: AC & SinChei]

Tanga was stunned as the red-maned cub woke up, and unleashed a raging fit on all of them. He himself wanted to say something to try and calm the little guy down, but after he cut Makali off with a harsh tirade, decided against it, just backing away a couple of cautious steps, giving the cub a little space, which would hopefully let him calm down.

Kulinda also watched the scene in amazement, but decided to cut in, hoping her nature as a stranger to the little guy would help her somewhat. "Hello, little one...my name is Kulinda. Can you please calm down so I can tell you something?"

Tyson grabbed his binoculars as well, and watched as the little cub started behaving extremely aggressively towards the other adult males. He sighed. "I really do hope he calms down soon...otherwise we're going to have to isolate him if he gets violent." Now that the cub was awake, Tyson also put down notes, marking the cub's behaviour, fully intending on comparing it with some older notes later on, to see if there was some sort of pattern with the cub's behaviour.

Makali kept his muzzle closed too and just watched kulinda how she tried to calm him down. He better made a few steps back aswell in hope the cub would see they were not up to hurt him or threatening him.

Daxis saw the both males made a few steps back and relaxed a bit but turned his head still growling towards Kulinda. She seemed to be a calm female lion what was not even a bad thing for daxis.
He still spoke in a agressive manner but more still mad of the two males.

Yeah I am! But don't call me little one! that sounds weakly! Daxis normally had decided that he won't tell anyone his name but when he decided that he only were together with males a female lioness wasn't expected. I will tell you my name when this two jerks are not around! but yeah i'm listening!

Shane did not feel well with that idea but knew there would be no other way then and just nodded while watching some photos he made of the cub and looked at some videos from the security cameras in the enclosure. Maybe he could find something about the cubs behavior in a picture or video.

Kulinda sighed, but continued despite his aggressive manner. "Okay...look, your claw is broken," she pointed at the claw. "I know it must hurt, and I'd like to take it out for you...but only if you let me. I'm telling you this because removing the claw will hurt a lot, and because there is a chance the claw will not grow back. But the longer you leave it in, the worse it is going to get."

"So, what do you say? Will you let me help you?" She sat back, showing she had no intention of forcing his decision, and waited for his answer, as Tanga and Makali seemed to sit back in the near distance, waiting as well.

Daxis looked down on his claw and it really hurt a lot and the lioness really seemed just wanting to help him. The cub sligtely fingered his broken claw and winced. But one word of Kulinda worried him. "There is a chance the claw will NOT grow back".

Why is there just a chance my claw grows back... if it stays in it will be better... anytime. The time heals... i guess...

Daxis really showed a bit of his fear and spoke really calm. But just facing Kulinda no one of the other males.

Kulinda shook her head sadly. "No...I'm sorry, but the claw will not fix itself when it is that badly broken. It will just get more and more painful until something causes it to come out. When that happens, it will bleed, a lot."

"Look, I've seen claws like this before, and I've seen what happens when they stay in. By the time one lion finally decided to have it out, he could barely think from the pain. Once the claw was out, he was living with one less claw in that paw, but that really is not that much of a problem, since it's just one claw. The point is, the pain went away once the claw was out, although taking it out did hurt a lot. I don't want you to wander around here in as much pain as that lion, please...will you just let me help you?"

Kulinda waited, praying the cub would make the right choice. She was already stressed enough in this place, seperated from her brother...she did not need to added stress of seeing a cub in horrible pain.

Daxis attached his ears but threw his head up and looked at the two males again. He growled loudly and started yelling again while going a few steps towards them.

Get lost!! i don't need you here!

He doesn't want them to see his pain and was mad the were just staring at him. He did not like that when someone he didn't like was around and looking at him.

Makali could understand why the little one wanted them to go away and turned around walking slowly farer away to the tree kulinda was laying before. Waiting for Tanga Makali layed down and looked at the sky not wanting to make the cub mad again.

Daxis then turned his head to kulinda again and stopped growling instantly. His tone turned again and he spoke calm while looking at her with sorrow. He didn't like the imagination about walking around with one less claw.

Yes... i will let you help me... as long as the jerks sty away...

Tanga sighed as the cub yelled at him once more, following Makali to the tree, occasionally glancing back until Daxis and Kulinda were out of sight. "I hope she can help him," he said sadly as he sat down near the tree, not really feeling like laying down right now. "That claw really does look bad."

Looking over at Makali, he adopted a slightly hapier expression. "So...what do you think of Kulinda?" he asked casually.

Kulinda nodded, watching as Tanga and Makali left. "They don't seem like jerks to me," she commented dismissively, before turning her attention back to the broken claw.

"Now, about your claw..." she spotted a small stream near where they were, and after taking a small leaf from a nearby bush, dunked it in the water to clean it, before returning to the cub's side. "When I remove it, it will start bleeding, so I am going to put these leaves over what's left of the claw to stop the bleeding, okay? Also, when I take the claw out, it will hurt...a lot, but the pain will go away soon enough. You'll feel better afterwards than you do now, I promise."

Still holding the leaves, she sat down in front of the cub. "Okay, just give me your paw when you're ready...and by the way, may I ask what your name is?"

Tyson coninued watching the scene as the two males left the female and the cub alone, as the female started doing a few things. "What are they up to?" he wondered aloud, amazed at the unique behaviour these lions seemed to be showing.

Makali was worrying about the small cub too but not like tanga did . the white maned lion was still relaxed and slwoly started brushing his forlegs while both eyes and ears were watching and listening tanga.
When he asked her what he thought about the new female smiled and looked on his paws while still brushing then.

She is very carring and kind i am ... kind of happy she landed here. expect she lost her brother. But yeah i really like her. What about you?

Daxis listened carefully to her words and was really scared about what would happen later. The Pain the blood, one less claw. He were shivering very slightely and looked a few more minutes down on his paw while breathing low and calm. The red maned cub rised his paw and gave it to Kulinda while speaking low.

My... name is Daxis...

Shane was typing and did not see what was going on. He took his binoculars when tyson said something.

Huh.... i don't know it looks like... no i don't know... he stopt typing completely and continued watching this scenes.

Tanga nodded slowly at Makali's words. "Yeah...you're a good friend, but some more company will be nice. And if she can help the little guy, too, then we may just get two new friends in here. But I also hate the way she's been seperated from her brother..." He then paused, before turning back to his white-maned friend. "Do you really think you can get her, and the rest of us, out of this place? It just doesn't seem possible to me."

Kulinda took the young cub's paw, as he gave his name. "Daxis...nice name," she commented, before taking a couple of paw toes, clutching the cub's broken claw in them, ready to snap the broken section off. "Okay, try and keep still...I know this'll hurt, but don't move away until I'm done. On three...one...two...three!"

As she called 'three' she twisted and pulled at the claw, snapping the damaged section of it off cleanly as blood flowed from the remaining stump of the claw. Grabbing the leaf she had cleaned earlier, she quickly placed it over the bleeding claw, holding his paw tight the whole time so he could not pull away.

"Easy, Daxis," she said soothingly. "Easy...it'll feel better in just a moment." She held the leaf over the missing claw, slowing the blood flow considerably as she held his paw. Part of her said she should hug him and hold him while he fought through the pain he must be going through, but judging by his behaviour so far, Kulinda decided that the cub was not one for giving or receiving affection, and so just settled on using her calming tone to try and soothe him.

Tyson watched as Kulinda placed her paw over Daxis', his jaw dropping. "Is she doing what I think she's..."

The rest of Tyson's question was lost as he saw the lioness twist her paw, her other paw also moving to hold the cub's paw as he watched the lioness throw away the broken-off portion of the cub's claw.

"I don't believe it..." he breathed, finally pulling his binoculars away from his eyes so he could put his observations into his own laptop. "Shane, did you just see that?"

Makali looked at the sky again and let the wind blew through his mane. He sighed and closed his eyes while replying on his question.

I really think i can... yes... if you believe in it you can do it.. but the rest of us is to much. I stay here. I am here since i was a little one. I don't know the world out there.

H opened his eyes again and observed the area once again with his cold eyes.

Daxis stained his muscles before she ripped the broken part off and whimpered a bit. That was the reason he dismissed the two males. He didn't want them to see his pain and fear. As she ripped it off Daxis cried in pain and slumped on the ground. Even a few tears ran down his cheeks and he could not stop screaming. Daxis tried to pull his paw away even if he agreed with kulinda as she told him to hold still. He could feel his paw heating up when the blood ran down his paw fur.

Shane continued watching and could still not beleive what was going on.

Yes... and i am still watching... that is to awesome... i really need to got to one and see it's reactions
