"Father, what am I to do?" Addana asked softly, careful as to not disturb her aging dad.

Delano slowly walked over to his den. Tempesta had already gone ahead of him, but he wanted to take his time. The rain, while rough, felt relaxing, and he enjoyed the feeling of the water falling down onto his body. The entire world around him was either soaking wet or already covered by water and mud. Marrone was right about the rain: it was never this hard this early into the rainy season.

A lightning flash made him look up, eyes squinting as the rain fell on his face. A few moments later, the loud thunder followed. Delano decided then to get inside his den quicker. The rain he might be fine with, but lightning was still uncomfortable.

Inside the den, Delano saw that Tempesta was already inside. "Hey," he told her. "Looks like tomorrow we get to go slugging through the mud on a patrol." he told her. "Jafar's coming with us!" he added. "Just the three of us under the rain! It will be great!"

Marrone's grey eyes squinted as the outline of Addana was visible in the dark den, "You can go with Tempesta and Delano. Keep practicing your tracking its quite a handy skill." he said softly resting his head back to his paws.

Mheetu watched the others leave the den and he snuggled up in his own corner, his mossy green eyes watching the rain fall. His mind wandered far away from this Pride, back home. He knew that emptiness in his heart, his missed his home.

Tempesta smiled slightly and rested her cranium on Delano's shoulder, "That story...I told you Delano...Did you notice how uneasy Marrone got? Like he knew it was true or he knew who the story was about.." she whispered softly into the wet air. Her turquoise eyes lit up in the flash of lightning and she looked to Delano, "My mother...it was my mother.." she muttered roughly.

Alma rolled onto her side unable to sleep hearing thunder and lightning. "Ugh I just wish this rain would let up a little." Alma said before shutting her eyes and trying to sleep. She listened to the rain pouring and the thunder cracking it kept her awake but she wished it would stop.

Delano had closed his eyes in order to fall sleep, but as soon as he heard the urgency in Tempesta's voice, his eyes snapped open. What she told him left him confused. "Wait..." he said slowly, "Are you telling me that the lioness your story was about was your mother? But that would mean.." he stopped, trying to figure it out. "But won't than make the king in the story Marrone? Why?.." He was now really confused. "He wouldn't do such a thing!"

Delano was losing his thought process. He couldn't believe that the king he grew up to protect, grew up trusting, was capable of doing something so bad. "Okay, assuming that somehow, assuming that it was Marrone..." he had to stop again. "Assuming it was him: why would Marrone do such a thing?" he finally asked Tempesta.

"Good luck, honey. You too, Mheetu. Come on, now, little one, it's time for bed." Himili scooped Zuwa up and carried him off to their den.
"Aw, mom," he said, yawning, "I'm not tired! Can't I stay up a little longer?"
"No, sweetie. You need to sleep." She lay him down, where he curled up. She curled around him and closed her eyes.

Tempesta rubbed her temple with her paws, "I know, I didn't believe it either. But I recently put the whole story together. A little bit after my moms passing. You see she only spoke of herself coming from a Pride that never existed anymore. When I always asked about my father she just said, he made his decison and she was all me and Dyanna needed. But Delano it wasn't Marrone who told her to hide it, it was his father. My mother was betrothed to Marrone.." she whispered softly. She looked to her paws, "Its been bothering me lately you see, I always wondered why we grew up so close to the royal family...." she said with a soft sigh. "You know my mother swallowed her Pride for years and when she died, I always felt like more should've been done. She sacrificed herself for the Queen, her own spot.." she muttered.

Alma couldn't sleep so she sat up on her paws and stared out at the rain dropping to the muddy ground, she kept thinking about Everyones stories but Tempestas kept going through her mind, "So who is the prince and the girl who stole the prince from the betrothed?" Alma asked herself softly hoping not to wake Marrone. Alma cuddled up next to Marrone and closed her eyes trying to sleep. "Ugh I always hate the first two or three days of the rain." Alma thought to herself before finally drifting into a very light sleep.

Delano sighed, feeling bad for Tempesta. "I'm... so sorry," he told her quietly. "I just don't know what to say." he finally admitted. "Why did your mother never fully tell you the story? Why did she hide it then? Why couldn't she have just told you about it explicatively? Why the secrecy?"

He caught himself asking all the questions quickly, an took a deep breath to calm himself and think more clearly. "I know I am asking all these questions, but I'm trying to figure it out: why no one ever bothered to tell you?"

Delano didn't want to tell his answer to Tempesta. He thought that somehow, her mother and Marrone thought it was best for her not to know. But he didn't to tell that to her.

Alma awoke from a crack of thunder and lightning she hopped to her feet and bounded out of the den, she wasn't too sleepy anymore so she stood out in the rain and looked around in the dark. She walked over and sat under a large green thick tree and snuggled up on the very trunk of the tree to get a little bit out of the rain. She closed her eyes and let the rain drip from the tree leafs onto her back. Alma was trying to make the best of the rain.
