As soon as Tawa caught sight of Scar leaving the den, he sprang out of his hiding place and bounded toward Sarabi and her son. He could see the former queen was very angry, and righty so. Tawa found himself wondering what had caused Ushujaa to behave so rebelliously in front of the king. Although Tawa was the more reckless of the two, even he knew such foolhardy behavior could earn him a heavy blow from Scar or even death.
Tawa braked sharply when he reached his friend's side. "Ushu, are you alright? He didn't hurt you did he?" he asked in a small quivering voice, looking over him for any visible scars. It didn't look like Ushujaa had suffered any bodily harm, but it was obvious the young cub was badly shaken. Tawa glanced up at Sarabi and noticed the same fear in her eyes. She had been scared also, but she was hiding it.

With Pumbaa gone to collect grubs and Simba off to go relax somewhere, the meerkat decided now was the perfect opportunity to enjoy a quiet leisurely walk in his jungle. "Ah, this is the life! No worries, no responsibilities! Hakuna Matata!" he sighed contently as he picked a chirping cricket off the ground and popped it into his mouth. His wandering thoughts took him back to when he and his warthog friend had first discovered the then cub Simba unconscious in the desert, with vultures encircling and ready to tear him to pieces. That lion grew fast, Timon reflected. With Simba already going through adolescence, the young lion was bound to be a full fledged adult in no time.
Eventually Timon's wanderings took him to a shady clearing. He spotted a large figure in the trees. Timon put a hand over his forehead and squinted his eyes, trying to make out who it was. "Simba!" Timon yelled excitedly, waving both arms up at the teenage lion, "What're you doing up there?!"
