The Pride Lands (Amanda, Moka, kovu42)

[Panda-chan]

The den was warm and very reassuringly safe, and Uzuri quickly fell asleep, despite the worries about her parents.

[Moka]

The darkness of the night didn't last too long. The sun rose and beams of light entered the den. Uzuri was awake before the gopher could wake her. "Come, Princess," he said, "now it is safe to go home."

[Panda-chan]

Uzuri had never been so happy to oblige. She got up, stretched, and then followed the gopher out of the den.
"Wow," she said breathlessly, gazing around the savanna as though she were seeing it for the first time, "It's so beautiful". It was in a way, as though she were seeing it for the first time; it was dawn. But it wasn't like she'd never seen dawn before, it was just that the sun was always being blocked by the tall mountains, and when she could finally see it, it wasn't dawn anymore. But over here she could see the sun clearly as it cast it's beautiful dazzling light onto the whole savanna.

[Moka]

The gopher was still walking but noticed the Princess wasn't following. "Yes, its very beautiful. I get to see it like this nearly every morning. Unfortunately the King of the Desertlands chose a location for the den that doesn't have the sunrise like this in view."

[Panda-chan]

"I know. Sometimes I wonder why he even put in such an isolated place." Uzuri said. The only time she'd ever asked him, he'd suddenly become interested in a particularly barren old baobab tree, saying that he had better go investigate "the reason why it was so devoid of leaves", which had turned out to be because of its lack of water, because it was in such a desolate place.
Uzuri realized that she had fallen behind again and ran to catch up, especially when she saw that the gopher was getting irritated.

[Moka]

Suddenly the gopher stopped. His ears caught something Uzuri's didn't. Usually, he might dig a quick hole to hide in, but with company, especially royal company, he had to make sure all were accounted for. "Wait, I hear something."

[Panda-chan]

Uzuri froze in her tracks. She tried to swivel her ears back and forth the way the gopher was doing, but it just gave her an earache. She tried to concentrate hard, but she still didn't hear anything. Just as she was about to give up, she heard the low rumbling sound the gopher was talking about.

[Moka]

The low rumbling was growing louder by the minute. The two characters wheeled in place trying to find it's source. The gopher thought it came from the West, and Uzuri thought it came from the East.
[ lol I don't know what the noise should be!!!! ]

[Panda-chan]

[uh........hyenas...? I hadn't thought of that!]
Suddenly, half a dozen hungry hyenas burst from the grass and sprang in a wide circle in front of them. Uzuri shrieked and the gopher gasped.
"Finally! Food!" said the closest one, licking its lips greedily.

[Moka]

The Gopher stood up as tall as his little legs allowed him to. "Now you wouldn't dare lay a paw on the Princess on our land. The King would hunt you all down. You'd be dead by tomorrow morning!"
