Simba nodded in agreement to what Kovu was saying about the young cub's condition. By the looks of her, she probably wouldn't have made it out in the Outlands for another day if Kovu hadn't taken the matter into his own paws. The regal king was about to speak when a familiar voice drifted into his ears, causing the large feline to turn around, his eyes meeting with the dark blue orbs that belonged to none other than Mila. Adorning a friendly smile, Simba spoke politely to the young lioness who he had grown quite attached to over the years.
"Ahh, such perfect timing you have Mila. Yes, we're in need of someone to fetch this poor cub here a drink from the Waterhole." Simba stated, motioning a paw towards the small bundle of fur that was huddled in between the small group of felines. "I don't think it's a good idea to be moving her around too much in the state she's in, so if you could Mila, I know Rafiki keeps some small turtle shells around the main Waterhole. One of those should act as a good container to carry some of the water back here, that is, if you don't mind doing this for me Sweetie." Simba concluded, keeping his gaze locked upon the young female in front of himm, watching as her uniquely long tail swayed casually, causing the king to chuckle quietly.
Mila had always been one of Simba's favorite lionesses ever since she joined his pride and her looks always reminded him of a combination of his mate Nala's and his daughter Kiara's fur color, as well as the way she was always willing to lend a helpful paw whenever the occasion called for such an action. Regardless of who Mila's parents were, Simba still looked after her as if she was his own daughter as well.
As Simba waited patiently for a response from Mila, Kiara took the free moment to fuss over the young cub, laying her golden furred body down next to the shivering cub, huddling in close to try and comfort the frightened creature as she whispered softly to her.
"It's okay Cutie, you're going to be okay. We're all friendly here and we're not going to hurt you."
Gently outstretching one of her fore paws, Kiara lightly stroked the young cub's emaciated frame with one of her soft paw toes, frowning from just how vividly the small cub's bones could be felt from with under her dusty pelt. Feeling her natural motherly instincts kicking in, Kiara leaned in and started to lovingly bathe the young cub's matted fur, doing her utmost to be as gentle as possible as she cleaned away the dirt that thinly coated the young cub's body, returning her fur color back to it's more appealing looking red.
Watching his daughter out of the corner of his eye, Simba couldn't help but feel proud of the way his daughter was taking hold of the situation, even without having any cubs of her own. He knew that one day, she'd make an excellent mother, much like her own mother and his mate Nala, did. Suddenly pulled out of his fatherly moment, Simba heard Kovu make mention of another strange lion in the Pride Lands, resulting in him turning his attention back to the younger male, speaking in a concerned voice.
"Oh, is that so Kovu? Wel, I know your sister is one tough lioness but I'd still feel better knowing that she had some support in such a matter. I think I'll go make sure that she's okay, plus I will have to see just who this strange lion is for myself." Pausing momentarily as he gave one last thought about the young cub, Simba quickly added in. "You might want to move the young cub there into the main den. At least she will be shielded from the sun and it might be a bit more comfortable for her there. Just be careful moving her."
Simba turned briefly to give Mila a friendly nod, as if to thank her for her help in advance, before the king moved off and down the side of Pride Rock, on a course to find Vitani and this strange new lion.
Kiara watched as her father took his leave, turning her focus to her mate once he was out of sight, speaking in a curious tone.
"Hmm, do you think we should move her Honey? That doesn't sound like all that bad of an idea. It's going to get a lot hotter out here soon and I'm sure it will be better for Cutie here, if she's inside the den."
