"I will guard this with my life," Simba said. He then felt the key in his hands. "I will go get Eden and Kovu and take them with me into the chamber. That way, they can watch for people trying to enter without permission," he said.

When Eden heard of Simba going into the treasure chamber, she felt awfully excited as she heard she was going with him. She had never been into the treasure chamber before.

Simba took a few deep breaths in order to keep his eagerness down. He looked at Mufasa. "Well, Father, shall we gather everyone and head to the treasure chamber?" he asked.

Just then the doors to Mufasa's chambers burst open. In came Razoul, the Rhino Captain of the Palace guards, carring Kovu who was strugging. "A thousand pardens your highness, but I caught this cub trying to break into to the treasue chameber. " Razoul explained as he tossed Kov to the ground. Kovu looked up with the most convincing innocent look he could muster. "Shall I throw this theiving street rat in the dungeon with the other rats?" he asked, hoping the sultan would do the sensible thing.

Simba's eyes narrowed at Razoul. "Razoul, he is under my protection, so leave him alone," he said to the rhino. He then looked at Kovu. "Kovu, I thought I asked you not to try and break into the treasure chamber," he said.

Mufasa sighed, shaking his head. Kovu was like a second son to him, and he was disappointed that he had broken his streak of non-thievery. "Let him go Razoul, I will deal with him later."

Simba was extremely disappointed in Kovu as well. He had been trying to train Kovu not to steal. "Kovu, if you keep this up, I won't be able to take you into the treasure chamber when I go in with Eden," he said.

Mufasa sighed. "Kovu, you will not accompany him. Instead," he looked around, and his eyes finally rested on a picture of him and Scar as teenagers, "Vitani will go."

Simba chuckled slightly. "Vitani? Well, there's no harm in bringing family along, I guess," he said. Meanwhile, outside the door, Scar was listening. "Excellent, most excellent," he said before leaving to tell Vitani. Simba looked at his father. "Father, I apologize for Kovu's behavior. I will intensify his anti-theft training," he said.

"As you wish Sultan." The guard said as he left. Kovu looked up as he hunched back. His ears folded againist his head. "Oh come on, I was just testing the lock, I swear." He said, hoping they'd believe him. "so does mean I can't go with Simba and Edan to meet this Princess Nala?" The cub asked.

Then the door opened again, it was Razoul. "Sire, there's been a double murder in the Palace!" He said, knelling before Mufasa. " I had sent a guard to fetch this..cub's Parents and they were found dead." He said.

Kovu's eyes teared up as he ran out, running to the part of the Palace where his parents worked. "Mom, Dad!" He cried franticly as he ran past the guards. "NO!!!!" He he cried out as he saw them lying there, brutally murdered. Kovu fell to his knees as he started sobbing.
