He chuckled. "I'm smart as well. Plus, I would concern about it myself... Besides, truth is.. I like her, and she likes me."

"No duh, Haij. I know that. Its been as obvious as the stars for I don't know how long? Since she hid behind you?" She shook her head. "Don't worry abot her. I'll take care of it. Trust me, with the... situation she's in, I know the best way to help her. Just let me do my job as her sister."

"I guess, but... If Kiara's leaving, I'll follow her, and with you staying, I'll be coming back a month to tell you, along with Kovu and Jasmine on what's going on, but I'm afraid about the cubs seeing me. Do I have to tell them that I'm their uncle and their aunt Kiara ran away from home because she's mad those two were born?"

[Applejack]

Vitani shook her head. "Don't worry," she said. "She gave me her word that she wouldn't leave. I'm going to help her out of this situation, one way or another. We'll get through this, and Kiara will be better. Dont worry about it, Haij. I give you my word."

"You know," the adult said. "I might actually trust you after all, 'Tani," he said, giggling. "By the way, nickname. I bet Kovu used that a lot when you were cubs."

Vitani's ears flattened for a second, and then she looked away. After a few seconds, she looked back. "Nuka used to call me 'Tani... all the time." She sighed and looked down, her face a little twisted, as though the tears were there, but even if they were, she wouldn't let them out. "I miss him... I really miss Nuka."

Kovu sighed. "I guess I miss Nuka, but I don't miss Mother one little bit," he said.

[Applejack]

"You have no reason to miss either of them," she said, turning to face Kovu. "You hated mother, and you hated Nuka. I hated mother, but Nuka... Nuka was... he was different." She turned away from either of them, hiding her face from their sight. If she was going to cry, she didn't want either of them to see it.

"Hmm... Nuka's the one that Zira would always decline, right? He wanted to impress your mother, and he hated Kovu since he was the most important." He giggled. "He tried to kill Simba when you and Kovu were young adults, but instead got crushed by logs." He closed his eyes, smiling slightly. "At least he's resting in peace with Mufasa, and the other Great Kings."

Vitani looked down. "I'd rather he were here, with me," she said softly. Without another word, she turned off and padded to her den. Her tail was inbetween her legs, her ears down. Her whole body spoke of sadness. Once she reached her den, she lashed out at the wall with her claws, hissing fiercely. Then she collapsed to the ground, her head covered by her paws in silent, shaky sobs.
