"How exactly is retelling my story going to help me? It makes the grief a fresh wave, washing over me all over again," Aaquila said.

Adofo: He did something bad to you.....didn't he? Is that......why you don't trust me to adopt you?

"I honestly don't see a need for me to explain," Aaquila said angrily. Her tail lashed.

Adofo: Oh man.......he did. Aaquila.........can you please....turn and look at me? Please!

Aaquila slowly turned, her neck fur bristling. Her tail lashed and her eyes were glazed with grief. "What?" she said, her voice catching in her throat. "What do you want?"

[Adofo]

Adofo: ......Aaquila.....I know you've had father issues in your past......and it doesn't matter what it was......but.....I SWEAR to you......if you become my daughter........I promise on my life, I will NEVER hurt you! I will only love and care for you! .....Like a real father should! Please........give me a chance.

Aaquila's voice quivered as she spoke. "How do you know exactly that I have quarreled with my father in the past?"
